Has struggled in both starts in maiden company but will get a handicap mark after this. That should be when he delivers more towards his 25,000 gns purchase price.
Trainer has done well with other members of this family. It was only a modest event he contested last time but this maiden, although looking better on paper, has attracted types who are not open to the progress this son of Nathaniel could make.
12-race maiden who carries the highest BHA rating into this. That may be misleading as he appears to have thwarted all his trainer's efforts to win with him so far. Changes in trip, headgear and tactics have all had similar results. Looks set to be thereabouts again, whilst allowing others to come out on top in any battles.
Showed ability in three decent maidens at the backend of last season and finished third of 15 at Windsor last month. Subsequent winners have come out of that race and he's entitled to come on for the run. Interesting runner and stable continue in excellent form but this ground is quicker than anything he has raced on previously. Bloodlines indicate that could be a problem based on sire stats and dam's best achievements.
Signs of ability in three maiden runs including when fourth over 1m2f at Sandown (good) earlier this month. He was unable to live with the front three who pulled clear that day but there is nothing of similar calibre in this lineup.
Has caught the eye when well held in two maiden so far and this is expected to be the third run that qualifies for a handicap mark. One to watch for the future.
20/1 and well beaten into mid-division in a good quality maiden at the backend of last season. Showed clear signs of ability and worth noting in the market with Newmarket trainers successful in eight of the last ten legs of this contest.
Has found little for pressure in both starts to date. Dam was a Royal Ascot winner in 2010 who improved over time, so too early to write her off, and handicapping is going to be more her forte.
Tailed off last of six when 66/1 for debut. Showed no positive indicators that day and easy to oppose as a result.
Forecasts
See Of Rome (6/4), Mancini (11/4), Prerogative (9/2), Working Class (8/1), Sonnetist (8/1), Sputnik Planum (33/1), Celtik Secret (33/1), Desert Song (66/1), Dartmoor Girl (100/1)
The Hannon pair Prerogative and Sonnetist promise to be thereabouts again. The former is looking difficult to win with and the latter will find this easier than the hot maiden he was soundly beaten in last time. See Of Rome represents a yard who are flying at present and his Windsor third stacks up well against these although faster ground is a concern. Mancini ought to win races and today could be the start of better things to come but his latest run was in a poor maiden won by a 69 rated horse and he may be a false price for this. WORKING CLASS ran better than his final placing suggests on his Nottingham debut in a race that has worked out well. Market support would strengthen confidence in a race that will take little winning.
- Working Class
- Mancini
