Has looked an improved performer this year after last showing some good form as a juvenile. Runner up on the other Newmarket course prior to winning at Nottingham last time and off a 2lb higher mark she should be on the premises again.

Trained in France last year and showed some ability in maidens but failed to really progress in her last couple of runs. Starts life with a new yard now going handicapping for the first time and best watched for now.

Has improved for the move into handicaps this year and turned in a solid effort at Yarmouth last time out. Back on better ground now and entitled to take a hand if able to show his form on the quicker ground.

Failed to build on the promise that he showed in his maidens when well beaten on turf/handicap debut last time out. Best watched here based on that performance.

It could well have been ground conditions (soft) that helped him step to win a handicap on the other Newmarket course last month. Will have to settle far better than he did last time out at Windsor and the changed conditions are also a question mark.

Starts life in handicaps now after appearing to improve last time out at in a Lingfield maiden on her turf debut. Not sure what to make of that run though and a bit more might be needed on handicap debut.

May well have had excuses on his last two starts and the ground may well have been a bit too soft last time out on handicap debut. Blinkers go on for the first time on his second try in a handicap on much better ground.

Won a small-field maiden on the AW in October but the move into handicaps hasn't really seen her improve and this looks to be a tough task.

Still yet to win but has run some very creditable races on all fours starts this season and just found one to good last time out. His record may put a few people off but he's a solid enough character who should make a good fist of things here.

Any expected improvement that was thought to be forthcoming in handicaps hasn't really materialised although it was a slightly better effort last time out at Newcastle. Raised 2lb for that placing and may well be a slow burner from a stable not unknown for that sort of type.

Forecasts

Coverham (10/3), Keepup Kevin (7/2), Carducci (11/2), Casina Di Notte (7/1), Pastime (10/1), Revel (10/1), Claire's Secret (16/1), Turning Gold (20/1), So Hoity Toity (20/1), Trade Route (25/1), Zoffany Bay (25/1), Luna Bear (28/1)

Verdict

A competitive contest with a few in this that could well be in with a chance but REVEL looks the strongest of them who looked as though he would be suited by a return to a mile based on his last run. Carducci is another who should be on the premises along with Turning Gold who we may not have seen the best of yet. Casina Di Notte ran well last time although the changed ground would put a question mark over his chance with Coverham not left out of the equation along with his consistent record.
  1. Revel
  2. Carducci
  3. Coverham
