His one win from his 16 runs is starting to look like a flash in the pan and he's finished well beaten on all recent starts. Back below his last winning mark now at least, with first-time blinkers tried and down significantly in trip having attempted 1m2f (good) at Fairyhouse early this month.
Only has one win to his name since 2014 so clearly not the most consistent type, but ran fine race to be second over C&D last week off this rating so has be give some claims if repeating.
Won from a much higher mark in the past but has been finding things tough enough of late both on AW and on turf, latest effort brought 4L defat over 5f at Navan (good) 20 days ago. Up in trip now.
Won at Dundalk back in February but has been struggling to reproduce the effort back on turf. Remains 2lb above previous winning mark and was beaten 11L over C&D just six days ago so has plenty work to do.
Is a 14-race maiden on turf, ran a cracker on penultimate start at Gowran Park (1m, soft to yielding) in a claimer but has since thrown the towel in over the same C&D in an apprentice contest. Depends which version show up here and hard to trust on that basis.
Filly was unable to get off the mark in eight starts in Britain, four of them coming on turf over this sort of trip at fairly modest level. Has been off 322 days and switched to this trainer for Irish bow, looks best watched on form.
Twice a winner on the AW for previous yard this year, but has been mostly underwhelming in four starts for new handler, including when beaten 10¼L over C&D on Saturday which leaves him with plenty to work on .
All six career wins have come on the AW surfaces, doesn't look the same horse on turf and has placed just once in 13 starts. There have been some decent efforts in there however and form this year at Dundalk gives him a chance with cheekpieces returning.
Eight-race maiden on turf and was beaten 10¾L over C&D six days ago, gets just 1lb back for that comprehensive defeat and hard to predict any major turnaround in fortune currently.
Lightly-raced filly having just her sixth start, she ran a pleasing race in a maiden over 7f here (good to firm) here in April and was beaten just over 1L in an AW handicap at Wolverhampton 16 days ago, so certainly isn't a forlorn hope coming back to this venue.
Filly remains a maiden and well beaten in all five starts since joining current handler, two of them in 7f maidens at this course. Uncompetitive off mark of 52 last week in 6f Fairyhouse handicap on good ground and needs a big jump forward to get involved.
Forecasts
Alans Pride (11/8), Guanabara Bay (5/1), Strategic Heights (6/1), Arlecchino's Rock (7/1), Oor Jock (10/1), Mags Well (12/1), Kiss The Stars (16/1), More Kudos (16/1), Texas Radio (20/1), Barrys Girl (33/1), Andaz (50/1)
Plenty of these are under a cloud at the moment and so it might prove wisest to look for some value. Strategic Heights would be a decent prospect in this field were the race being run on an artificial surface, but he has yet to look anything as smart on turf. The likes of Guanabara Bay, Oor Jock and More Kudos were all well beaten off over C&D just six days ago but Alans Pride was second in that race and runs off the same mark now so he could of interest, though he's anything but consistent. Similarly, Arlecchino's Rock is not reliable but his penultimate showing at Gowran Park was enough to put him in the mix for this. A chance is taken on MAGS WELL, who ran well enough in a maiden here in April went well last time out in a handicap over 7f at Wolverhampton on the AW. She wouldn't need a lot more to have a strong chance.
- Mags Well
- Alans Pride
- Arlecchino's Rock
