Talented but frustrating performer, losing run now stretching back to 2014 and despite the odd good effort, seems to always find something too good. Conditions once again fine, but hard to know what best trip is these days and others preferred.
Mark is falling fast now after some moderate efforts at the back end of last season and beginning of this, and three runs for this new yard haven't seen an upturn in fortunes. Makes little appeal at present.
Hard to win with, but difficult to knock his recent efforts at Wetherby and Nottingham and only just denied by an unexposed one last time out. Same mark here and with likely conditions fine, has to be on the shortlist.
Lightly raced and open to improvement, no surprise to see the cheekpieces applied after appearing not to go through with his effort at Carlisle last time (travelled best) but equally soft ground there possibly to blame. Chances from the same mark and can't be ruled out if the headgear works.
Started the season off well enough with placings at Musselburgh and Ayr but efforts since then less encouraging, and he may just have gone off the boil for the time being. Conditions fine but others make a bit more appeal.
Went close under these conditions at Nottingham last year, but not much to cheer since then and now having second spell with this yard after moving to Marjorie Fife last year. Mark so low he's worth a glance in the market, but others surely have stronger claims.
Seemed to show the benefits of a change of scenery when winning first time up for this yard at Redcar recently, showing plenty of resolution in the finish. That form has taken plenty of knocks since though, so may need more improvement from a 6lb higher mark here.
Hadn't shown much until putting in an improved effort over this C&D last week, staying on well to claim third. That was only her second start in a handicap so she may have more to come in first time cheekpieces today. Not out of it if that's the case.
Looks very moderate and all sorts to prove here, including her ability to stay the trip. Makes very little appeal.
Chances on her ½l second to Clenymistra at Redcar but the fact she was well beaten at Beverley subsequently only goes to show that form isn't the most rock-solid around. Drop back in trip here may help but too much to prove on balance.
Another to come from that Clenymistra race at Redcar, this one finishing third, and although that was a major step up on anything achieved previously, it still requires another step forward here.
Forecasts
Bling King (3/1), Bonnie Gals (3/1), Colour Contrast (5/1), Frozon (8/1), Clenymistra (10/1), Green Howard (12/1), Regal Mirage (14/1), Single Estate (16/1), Stardrifter (16/1), New Abbey Angel (18/1), Trulove (100/1)
Another race on the card that has all the hallmarks of a shock result, with no guaranteed pace up front and plenty of in-and-out performers. Keep one eye on Frozon in the market as this race is so weak, if they have got him back to anything like his best, he'd have a great chance here, and may be the one horse that wants to front run. BONNIE GALS is given the vote as she at least appeared to improve last time and ought to have more to offer. Clenymistra is at least in form and should go close, although the form of her Redcar win may not be that strong. Bling King could pick up more place money.
