Came good when making all at Ripon last time out, and has been gelded since. Faces different ground conditions here and stall 12 possibly not ideal to try and make all from, but is at least going the right way and a follow-up not ruled out.

Too keen on first run for new yard when last at Doncaster earlier in the month, and no surprise to see both the hood go on and a drop back in trip. Plenty to prove after that effort and others easily preferred.

Didn't show much in three maidens but much better for the step into handicaps last week, finishing a good second to Barwell. 33/1 price tag there suggests that was a bit of a surprise, but on same mark here and slight drop back in trip may help too. Not discounted.

Looks regressive already and no better for being gelded at the start of the season. Well beaten off at Musselburgh latest and although trainer's runners can bounce back with seemingly little warning, there are surely better options available.

Went close a couple of times once the cheekpieces were applied but a bit disappointing here last time out. Drop back a furlong may help but possible handicapper has him now, and others make more appeal.

Going the right way this season and followed up his Catterick win in April with two solid efforts since. Was behind both Heatongrad and Mama Africa at Ripon last time but met trouble in running and could get closer this time. Not discounted.

Tailed off on most recent start at Wetherby and hadn't shown much in two starts before that either. Goes handicapping on a basement mark but needs massive improvement from somewhere, and that looks hard to find.

Well beaten all three starts at 2, but no doubting this step up in trip will suit on breeding and yard can land the odd punt in these events. Worth a glance in the market on handicap debut but on balance, others are preferred.

Verdict

Not an easy contest to solve, as a few of these need to bounce back from moderate runs and a few look handicapped to the hilt. MAMA AFRICA has yet to get her head in front but she's knocking on the door and this track, with it's uphill finish, could be just what she needs to score. Four Wishes has a bit of ground to make up with the selection but if getting a trouble-free passage this time, can prove the danger. Fairy Lock has some legitimate excuses for a couple of below-par efforts and may do better here.
  1. Mama Africa
  2. Four Wishes
  3. Fairy Lock
