Has a 0-4 record at this trip and her task is made all the more difficult following a 3lb push up the weights for chasing home the useful Amjan Princess in a Listed event at Goodwood. Readily disposed of that day and only had to run to her previous mark to guarantee a place. Stable are having a quiet year and do not have the best of records here.
Winner of three handicaps who graduated to Listed company and rounded off the 2016 campaign with a career best effort. A Listed entry at Pontefract on Sunday suggests that her skilled handler believes she is capable of grabbing some black type. As such she ought to be capable of disposing of this field if fit enough. The market will tell us more and she did win first time out last year.
Consistent mare who is 3-22 and has been placed on 13 occasions. Has C&D form but last poor run came in a tactical affair here and this could prove a similar story. In good form having scored over 2m at Ascot and putting in a typically gutsy display at York during Dante week. Had a hard race that day and has been given time to recover.
Still not managed to win since her two-year-old days although the handicapper is starting to give her a chance. Still doesn't look an easy ride though but gets skilled handling here.
Upped in class following two recent Kempton successes. Has a good turn of foot which could be useful if this turns tactical. Yet to tackle this trip but this is unlikely to be a true test. Stable had three winners last week and due to be partnered by the apprentice of the moment.
Ended last season on a high note with success in two handicaps. Ran a perfectly respectable race on her reappearance at Goodwood last month and should strip fitter for that run. Has to cope with a 4lb higher mark which is a slight concern.
Took advantage of wet ground and a muddling pace to win a tactical battle at Windsor. That was over a trip short of her best and this is more suitable. Trainer in form, but having looked up against it at the weights last time she faces an even more difficult task here.
Forecasts
Graceland (9/4), Cliff Face (7/2), Langlauf (5/1), Jelly Monger (5/1), Elysian Fields (5/1), Notice (10/1), Perfect Summer (25/1)
Six fillies who have proven their wellbeing are taken on by CLIFF FACE for what may turn out to be a tactical affair with no obvious contender to set a decent pace. Sir Mark Prescott's filly graduated to Listed company for her final run of 2016 and produced the best run of her short career. There is a promise of more to come and, having won on her seasonal bow in 2016, there should be few fitness doubts. Langlauf is a progressive filly from an in form yard with a good claimer on board. She has shown a useful turn of foot in being delivered late to score over 1m4f at Kempton and that asset makes her a danger to the selection. Elysian Fields was placed in Listed company last time and is feared although Graceland appeals as being better treated.
