Enjoyed a drop in class last time to run his best race for a long while, and remains on the same career-low mark with blinkers now added to assist. Should run a big race once again.
Unlucky to be narrowly denied at Ayr last time out (7f, good), but had put in some promising performances prior to that, having perhaps not handled Newcastle's synthetic surface on his previous run.
Won at Hamilton last August (6f, good to firm), and is back down below that winning mark now, but has never really convinced over 7f and faded quickly last time out.
Ran with credit without ever truly threatening at Wolverhampton last time (7f, standard), and is still 4lb above his most recent winning handicap mark. Looks held on that basis.
Dropped back in trip slightly having failed to convince on the all-weather. Only win to date came in a very low-grade affair and she is difficult to fancy here from a tough draw.
Specialist over this trip who won at Catterick in December and is now back down to that winning mark once again. Unable to show the same level of form since and the draw is unhelpful, but he should still be able to challenge for a place.
Consistent type who now finds herself down slightly in class and back over a more suitable trip for her. Interesting from what looks to be a near-ideal draw on ground that she will enjoy.
0/15 so far in her career and not convincing that 7f is her optimum trip, but she has run very well in the past off higher marks than this and has an apprentice jockey taking off yet more weight, and so is clearly well treated.
All-weather specialist who makes his first appearance on the turf since August 2015. Has looked handicapped to his best on most of his recent starts and is a slightly risky proposition on a surface he hasn't been tried on in so long.
Hasn't won since December 2014, when in the care of another trainer, and looks well held by the handicapper on the basis of his recent form. Returns to a career-low mark now.
Much better since switching to handicap company and seems to still be improving. Draw not ideal but is much less exposed than many of his rivals in this field.
Has lost his way both over hurdles and on the Flat recently, and even went has a thoroughly unsuccessful campaign in the point to point sphere. Plenty to prove now returning to the level, with his only career win coming in June 2015.
Won on her only previous run here, which is also the only time she's ever won, but has to overcome a lay-off here in addition to a handicap rating which make not give her a chance to get into this.
Yet to win on the turf (has placed only once), and looks well held on the basis of a 12L beating at Newcastle in January (6f, standard), with the lay-off to overcome.
Poor in maidens and has been no better since switching to handicaps despite a gradually lowering mark. Seems an unlikely sort compared to some of these.
Forecasts
Mango Chutney (9/2), Kensington Palace (5/1), Cabal (6/1), The Name's Paver (9/1), Steal The Scene (9/1), Caledonia Laird (10/1), Danot (11/1), American Hustle (12/1), Rosy Ryan (16/1), Picks Pinta (16/1), Grey Destiny (20/1), Check 'em Tuesday (20/1), Dylan's Storm (33/1), Lukoutoldmakezebak (100/1), Mr Conundrum (100/1)
On an attractive looking mark for this, it is AMERICAN HUSTLE who appeals most. Despite remaining a maiden she has shaped with plenty of promise, especially over 7f, and looks to be well-handicapped here, with a capable apprentice taking yet more weight off her back. Kensington Palace is one of the few unexposed runners in the field and should also be considered, as well as Steal The Scene, who could improve for first time blinkers.
- American Hustle
- Kensington Palace
- Steal The Scene
