The gelding, by Medician out of a Tiger Hill mare, won his maiden last time out over course and distance at the end of May on good to firm ground. Trainer in good form with a double on Wednesday and Friday.
Third of 13 at Chepstow over 1m4f on good to soft in a race that has seen the second, Jonjo O'Neill's, Knight Destroyer win a Chepstow class 5 race earlier in the month. The Poets Voice gelding was fifth of eight last time out in a Leicester class 5 handicap over 1m4f soft ground. Back down in class and yard in decent enough form with 16 win and place positions from 38 runners in the last two weeks.
Trainer significantly steps up this filly by Born To Sea out of a Danehill mare, following runs over 7f - 1m1f, with no impression over those distances. Dam placed at the distance.
€600,000 yearling, by Zoffany. Shown nothing on three starts between 7f and 1m, though tried at class 4 and class 5 level. Drop down in class and step up in trip could suit.
Well beaten on three starts over 1m2f at a variety of courses and ground conditions. By Derby winner, Sir Percy out of a Royal Applause mare, half-brother to a series of winners up to 1m1f.
No impression on four starts, beaten a total of 154L. Delegator filly out of a Fantastic Light mare, whose best performance came here in May when fourth of eight, beaten 3¼L over 1m2f on good to soft.
Third of 13 in a Bath class 6 handicap over 1m2f on firm ground at the end of May, before, well beaten 9¼L, seventh of 13, behind Pillar Of Society, in a Windsor class 5 handicap over a mile on soft ground. Another struggling to trouble the judge.
No impression in five career starts, apart from a third of eight, beaten 3L behind Arab Moon in April that has seen the likes of the winner and second, Bonnie Arlene win again. Beaten 16½L last time out in a Chepstow handicap over 1m4f on good to soft.
Forecasts
Pow Wow (4/6), Eolian (9/2), Zoffanist (7/1), Theglasgowwarrior (14/1), See The Sea (14/1), Black Prince (16/1), Famous Dynasty (16/1), Cecilator (50/1)
Nothing in the race suggests any great ability, so it's probably best to side with those with the 'better' form. Last time out winner POW WOW will possibly be settled in the final three/four in the early stages of the race, behind the likes of Eolian, See The Sea, Zoffanist and Cecilator. The Roger Charlton-trained gelding will get a decent toe in to the race, enabling him to do his best work in the closing stages of the contest. See The Sea and Theglasgowwarrior could fill the places.
- Pow Wow
- See The Sea
- Theglasgowwarrior
