Excellent effort to be second of 16 over 1m at Navan (good) on penultimate start though not quite as good over 1m2f at Fairyhouse since. Could have place claims here if on his game.

Promising efforts off higher marks when finishing in the top five in handicap company last year including when 3L third of 14 over an extended 1m1f at Gowran Park (soft) in September. Not able to show that sort of form in three runs this term but mark is now slipping dangerously low.

Ultra consistent up at Dundalk on the AW this year and even though he is a 16-race maiden, it would be no surprise to see him get his head in front after a fine second at Gowran Park (1m1f, yielding to soft) last month. Raised 6lb but front two streaked clear on that occasion.

Well beaten in three maidens over a variety of trips so far, latest over 6f at Fairyhouse 17 days ago. Open to doing better now sent handicapping and worth a look in the betting as such.

Teofilo filly represents trainer going well but hasn't set the world alight in trio of maidens so far. Gets cheekpieces for this handicap debut and improvement could be forthcoming.

Showing some tentative signs in three runs this season that a breakthrough might be coming, well held on handicap bow at Navan (1m, good) this month however. Gets 2lb back and first-time cheekpieces to aid cause for yard still in good form.

Nineteen runs since last win in 2015 but there have been tentative signs this spring that he might pop up soon. Poor last time out at Roscommon (1m2f, soft) but no surprise should addition of Smullen dig out a bit more.

Both career wins have arrived at this venue, including over this trip in August 2014, has had his problems since and three course runs last month suggested they may have taken something out of him. Now weighted appealingly if the ability still lurks in there however.

Won off a mark of 55 last year and looking well-handicapped now though must put a very tame effort in 1m apprentice contest at Gowran Park (soft to heavy) just 13 days ago behind him.

Limited to just three runs last season and hasn't looked the same horse as earlier in her career; well beaten on AW at Dundalk in April and difficult to fancy on that basis despite having won over C&D before (June 2015).

0/16 in his career despite being tried over a number of different trips and in different types of race, first-time blinkers and tongue strap are added now but still looks an unlikely winner at current weights.

Not the most consistent but posted a good effort on penultimate run over 1m at Listowel (good). Is now a 10yo however and not getting any favours here being 7lb wrong at the weights so probably best to look elsewhere.

Shown nothing in three maidens to date for current trainer and for Jim Bolger. Starts handicap career off lowly mark for a good reason and hard to make case going back up to the mile.

Six-race maiden returned from a layoff with fair run in 1m2f Roscommon claimer a week ago on soft ground. One of two for the yard in this and wouldn't be a total shock to see a better run under a 5lb claim.

Failed to trouble the judge in four starts at two but shaped better on second run since being gelded when eighth at Limerick in penultimate outing. Underwhelming since over 1m1f at Gowran Park and plenty to do at these weights.

Verdict

Not a contest to set the pulse racing but it might be the QUELUZ proves the most reliable option. He remains a maiden but was a clear second last time out at Gowran Park and has also been hitting the frame at Dundalk this year. It remains a concern that he hasn't won, but he does seem destined to run his race. Blue Book, also a maiden, can be given some chance under a claim for the Harrington team while Roses Need Rain would be a lively contender based on his penultimate effort at Navan over a mile. Misty Mountain has been showing some positives and gets cheekpieces now to aid the cause whilst the addition of Pat Smullen could work the oracle for Apache Gold, who has run some decent races lately.
  1. Queluz
  2. Roses Need Rain
  3. Apache Gold
