Looks more at home on the AW these days but ran a fair race last time at Yarmouth. His best efforts have tended to come on faster ground when it comes to turf so not discounted provided the rain stays away and yard who do well around here and are in good form currently, each-way player.
Not as much as placed on turf since his debut and looks vulnerable from this sort of mark away from the AW. Entitled to need this run after an absence.
Looked like the winner at Chester last time before getting nabbed on the line. 3lb rise not unfair for that effort and well suited to fast ground so should go well despite the wide draw.
Not the easiest to predict but last couple of wins have come around here with this jockey on board. Has won on all sorts of ground and he should go well provided they go quick enough up front for him to pick them off at the end. Each-way player.
Landed back-to-back races at the end of last season and not disgraced off his revised mark this time around with two decent efforts in big field handicaps. Won this race last year and well suited to being held up off a strong pace with the hustle and bustle of these sorts of races. Drawn well and the cheekpieces worn for his most recent win return today.
Not beaten far when sent off favourite at Yarmouth last time and denied a clear run entering the final 2f but probably wouldn't have won regardless and he's still 3lb above his last winning handicap mark. Others hold more convincing claims in a competitive field.
Possibly a little better over the mile than he is over this trip and better suited to more cut in the ground than what he will get here. Looks vulnerable in an event as competitive as this.
Highly progressive last year but handicapper may have just caught up with him for now and he's been below form on three starts this year. Dangerous when allowed to dominate from the front but may want softer ground than what he'll get here.
Inconsistent sort who has only just fallen below his last winning mark after several below par efforts this campaign. Probably a little better over the mile and on softer ground than what he's likely to get here.
Entitled to come on for his first run since 2015 last time and this should tell us more where he's at after being purchased for £20,000 towards the end of last year from Godolphin. Quite possibly better suited to softer ground.
Beaten odds-on favourite at Thirsk on debut for this yard but made amends at Newcastle where he made all and stayed on well. Not been seen since that win and the second from that contest has failed to frank the form when seen subsequently. Entitled to need this run and may be worth opposing despite the trainer and jockey's excellent strike-rate around here.
Badly out of form in recent times and not won for over two year but return to 7f looks a positive move and he's well suited to faster ground. Hard to forward in current form and yard have been a little quiet so probably best watched for now.
Latest success came over C&D in an apprentice handicap off 2lb higher but that didn't look the strongest contest and he looks a little vulnerable off this mark for now.
Rattled off a hat-trick in October last year and most of his best efforts have come with cut in the ground. Due to go up another 2lb for his most recent run at Catterick when not beaten far but draw not ideal in his bid to capitalise on his mark.
Has been nothing short of disappointing in recent times and not won since 2014. Handicapped to bounce back at some stage but has failed to justify market support on several occasions. Appears to be the yard's first-string on jockey bookings.
Not won since March 2015 and his best form has all come on the AW. Useful hold-up performer when everything drops right and yard have hit some form so can't be discounted.
Winner at Wolverhampton last time out but only has one win on turf to his name and may start to struggle off his revised mark, particularly on turf.
Very consistent sort and has worked his way back down to a mark he has won off twice. Has run well in Class 3 company off low-weights before and yard have hit some form so he has plenty in his favour.
Hasn't got his head back in front off his revised mark this year and may struggle upped to this class of race but no doubts he will enjoy the quicker ground.
Forecasts
Sun Lover (11/2), Gothic Empire (6/1), Classic Seniority (13/2), Sakhee's Return (9/1), Ballymore Castle (10/1), Chaplin Bay (12/1), Firmdecisions (12/1), God Willing (14/1), Penwortham (16/1), Bertiewhittle (20/1), Shouranour (20/1), Related (20/1), Roll On Rory (25/1), Lexington Times (28/1), Be Kool (33/1), Wink Oliver (33/1), Moonlightnavigator (33/1), War Department (40/1), Roaring Forties (80/1)
There's no doubt last year's winner of this contest, CLASSIC SENIORITY, loves the nature of these races and provided he gets a strong pace to aim at, there's plenty to like about his chances. Bertiewhittle is another who is a hostage to fortune a little but his last two wins have come over C&D while there was plenty to like about Penwortham's effort at Chester last time out. The field wouldn't want to let either Roll On Rory and Sun Lover get an easy time on the front end.
- Classic Seniority
- Bertiewhittle
- Roll On Rory
