Returned in style after a winter break when winning at Windsor (1m2f, good) last month. Front trio were 8L clear there, so may be able to build on it and should put in another positive effort from just 3lb higher.
Well placed to win half of his six races, including his last two starts, both over this trip. Raised 5lb for the latest of those, but does not look to have stopped progressing yet and can again go well.
Runner-up in three successive starts over 1m last summer and returned this season with a good placed effort over 1m2f (good to firm) at Newbury and then put in another very good performance in a better race than this, beaten just 2L, at Epsom last time. Looks to have strong claims.
Put together two C&D wins last summer (both on good) and after being well beaten when tried over 1m6f, he drops back to this trip for his reappearance. Still looks on a competitive mark and a market check is advisable to gauge confidence first time back.
More exposed than most here and both his wins have been over 1m4f. Has been competitive from this mark on his last two starts and no reason why he can't do so again, though will want enough pace to make it a true test.
Both his wins have been over this trip, though he is another thoroughly exposed runner here. Has shown his capabilities from this mark in recent starts and should again be very competitive.
Usually seen to best effect on softer ground than this, having twice won over the trip on good to soft/soft going. 5b lower than when scoring over C&D almost a year ago and money for him would be interesting now dropped back to this trip for the first time in several starts.
Sole win came in a 1m Chelmsford maiden (AW) in November and went close from a mark of 79 on his handicap intro at Kempton next time. Back on that mark now and could again take a hand. Has run well over C&D on good ground before.
Has had just the five runs in almost two years, winning a Chelmford maiden auction (1m) in October 2015. Has already put in one good run from this mark to be beaten just 1L in a handicap over C&D, though his record so far when fresh is not encouraging.
Forecasts
Shargiah (11/8), Richie Mccaw (7/2), Top Beak (7/1), Solo Hunter (8/1), Prendergast Hill (10/1), Cape Banjo (14/1), Proctor (14/1), Zamperini (16/1), Artful Rogue (33/1)
Solo Hunter and Shargiah both come here in fine form and a further win for either would be no surprise. However, TOP BEAK ran really well in a better contest last time and looks up to winning in this company. Zamperini is interesting now dropped back to this trip, while Cape Banjo and Prendergast Hill are others with claims in a competitive heat.
- Top Beak
- Shargiah
- Solo Hunter
