£28,000 son of Compton Place representing a yard with little tradition for having one ready first time out. Yard in form with 3-11 in last fortnight.

Son of Mayson bought for €26,000 as a yearling in September last year. Dam a winner over 1m1f. Easy to back and down the field on debut but stable in better form now.

Missed the break on Newmarket debut but was staying on nicely up the hill behind the easy winner. Third has let the form down since.

Has shaped as though he would be better suited by this trip. Form of latest effort looks solid enough with winner scoring impressively since. Yard's horses are running better than the stats suggest and jockey 2-9 (further three placed) for them this term.

€4,500 son of Monsieur Bond out of a dam who was a modest maiden. Makes little appeal on pedigree and yard 13-227 with juveniles over the past five seasons.

Horse silk
9/1
15,000 gns daughter of Helmet out of an unraced dam. Yard appear to have a good crop of juveniles this term and are 6-19 with the age group this term. One to note in the market.

Both runs have come here with the better performance on faster ground for debut. Both efforts leave her with something to find although rider is usually a positive booking for the yard (10-54 strike rate). Stable took this last year.
Form leaves her with something to find but the extra furlong will benefit. Stable continue to fire in the winners and she cannot be ruled out in a race lacking in quality.

10,000 gns daughter of Mayson out of a dam who won three races over a mile. Yard 3-92 with this age group over the past five seasons.

Forecasts

Initiative (6/5), Joegogo (11/4), Hateya (4/1), Autumn Leaves (9/1), Jungle Queen (11/1), Hastenplace (12/1), Alifax (20/1), Spot Lite (20/1), Grand Acclaim (25/1), May Spirit (66/1)

Verdict

None of the newcomers stand out on pedigree for a race where Hateya would have an excellent chance if routed here instead of Brighton on Monday. The form of her debut does not look particularly strong despite the obvious promise shown. Initiative shaped well after a slow at Newmarket but that form has been devalued since and JOEGOGO probably achieved more when chasing home the useful Nine Below Zero here last time. His pedigree and both previous starts indicate he will do better over this extra furlong and he can provide David Evans with another winner.
  1. Joegogo
  2. Initiative
  3. Hateya
