Rated 75, and has started favourite or thereabouts on four of his five career starts. Regularly found one or two too good, as was the case when narrowly denied in a weak race at Pontefract (6F) latest. Seems to handle cut based upon limited evidence, and the first time visor is certainly worth trying.

Slowly away and always in rear on debut at Nottingham last month (6F good) and by the 2006 Derby winner Sir Percy looks likely to need further.

Made some late headway after blowing the start at Chester on debut, but could only finish sixth of nine to Highland Pass (7½F good to firm). Likely much wiser for that experience, but faces a different test in these conditions (track and forecast ground).

Mio Ragazzo20
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: A Fresu| T: M Botti
9/2
Third living foal by Mayson out of Italian winning mare Mia Diletta. Well related, half-brother to 2016 Italian 2000 Guineas winner Poeta Diletto. Therefore, a shade disappointing on debut when fifth to the potentially useful Hugin over 7F at Newcastle. However, should improve for that experience and early days to be dismissive about.

13/2
Weakened inside the final two furlongs over this trip at Doncaster on debut in April (eighth of ten to Firefright). Bred to be suited by 7F and cost £140,000 as a yearling, so deserves another chance with an in-form rider booked.

Daughter of Dream Ahead who has been kept busy since making her racecourse debut at Carlisle in late May (a head runner up to Moonwise). Had excuses for her recent third at Chelmsford, but either of those efforts give her every chance at this level if handling the forecast softer conditions.

Not a massive amount to enthuse about in either of her two starts so far, and turned out quickly after finishing a well held sixth of ten on good to soft ground at Thirsk on Monday. Appears to be seeking a third run for a handicap mark.

Forecasts

Peach Melba (6/4), Benjamin Thomas (11/4), Mio Ragazzo (9/2), Rubens Dream (13/2), Mac O'Polo (8/1), Super Ruby (25/1), D'waterside (40/1)

Verdict

PEACH MELBA needs to conclusively prove herself with some give in the ground, but connections clearly think that she's ready to win as they turn her out for the third time in just a fortnight. She's ran well on both of those starts, and a reproduction of either of those efforts make her the horse to beat. Mio Ragazzo bumped into a potentially useful horse in the shape of Hugin on debut at Newcastle last month, and should do better with that experience gained now switched to turf.
  1. Peach Melba
  2. Mio Ragazzo
  3. Benjamin Thomas
