Winner at this point last year off a similar mark. Valid excuses for his two defeats this term so no surprise to see him bounce back with his stable beginning to hit form. Ground conditions are perfect as forecast.
Winner at Newcastle earlier this year and has posted two good efforts at Pontefract this term. Obviously suited to stiff finishes and has a 2-8 record here. Looks a serious contender for an uncompetitive heat.
Sole win came over C&D last autumn. Two runs down the field this year have not seen any respite from the handicapper. Could leave those efforts behind with the application of headgear and the stable showing signs of getting back amongst the winners.
Debut winner at Ripon in 2014 and ran well a number of times in France following a change of yards. Best effort for latest stable came when a close up third over 7f at Southwell last month though needs to put a poor effort last time out behind him if he's to take this.
Back up in class after failing to justify support over 6f at Thirsk. Sole victory came over that trip on faster ground so this stiff mile and more testing conditions are a concern.
Forecasts
Mustaqbal (11/4), Geordie George (7/2), Someone Exciting (7/2), Jordan James (4/1), Chiswick Bey (9/2)
Jordan James has won under similar conditions over C&D but he needs to bounce back from two poor efforts without any assistance from the handicapper. New headgear and an apparent upturn in his yard's fortunes improve his prospects. Mustaqbal can be forgiven his two runs this year and, having struck form off a similar mark last year, he is another likely type for a race that will take little winning. Preference is given to CHISWICK BEY who makes less appeal from a handicap perspective but arrives in better form than his rivals. The combination of track and ground will be perfect and he can collect his second race of the year.
- Chiswick Bey
- Mustaqbal
- Jordan James
