Won a 10f handicap at Chelmsford for Lucy Wadham in April, 2015, but has not been successful since and four runs for his current stable have seen him fail to hit the frame. Not disgraced at this venue a couple of starts ago, but takes a big jump in trip and has stamina to prove.
Stayed on well when fourth over 2f shorter at Salisbury last time so this longer trip should suit. Against that, his AW form is not inspiring so others make more appeal.
Two runs since joining this trainer from Clive Cox. Ran well over C&D on the first of them and has to be of interest off the same mark and assuming he is now at peak fitness.
Not that many miles on the clock and has already proven himself a thorough stayer. Ran well on the turf at Goodwood last time and this return to the AW is not a negative. Solid each-way claims.
Only visit to this track saw him win a 1m 3f maiden in October. Drops 2lb following his latest run when fifth at Lingfield and is well worth a go at this longer trip.
Two good efforts since joining his current yard and steps up in distance. Previous attempt at 2m was inconclusive, so he has to be considered after running well at Lingfield last time.
Thorough stayer who has plenty of 2m wins to his credit. Has not got his head in front for two years, though, and seems to be getting more one paced as he gets older. Place prospects, however.
Competed over C&D last time, but could finish only sixth. Has dropped 1lb, but that does not look sufficient to get him involved in the finish.
Has been running well without winning since joining this yard from Andre Fabre. Finished second over C&D in November and races off 1lb lower. May need to drop a little further in the weights, but perhaps the first-time eyeshield could yield improvement.
Forecasts
Chelsea's Boy (4/1), Pastoral Music (9/2), Hepplewhite (9/2), Denmead (5/1), Southern States (8/1), Plymouth Sound (8/1), Lanceur (14/1), See And Be Seen (16/1), Treble Strike (20/1)
Plenty of these have their limitations so it may pay to look for those with potential to improve. Chelsea's Boy will be popular with his top jockey in the plate, but Hepplewhite and DENMEAD make more appeal. The latter has good AW form to his credit, ran well on turf last time and is feasibly handicapped. Pastoral Music can figure if staying the trip.
- Denmead
- Chelsea's Boy
- Hepplewhite
