Beaten in a couple of tight finishes for John Gosden last summer. Yet to perform to the same level since but has first run on turf for new trainer following a four month break.

Produced a career best on turf when chasing home Natural Scenery and Cape Cova at Newmarket last year. Looked unlucky at Haydock last time and a BHA rating of 85 sets a high standard.
Brother to three winners Spectator,Advertise and Side Glance who were all middle-distance performers for this yard. Worth noting in the market.

320,000 gns son of Galileo out of a dam who won over 1m4f. She has produced three winners who were all middle-distance horses. Yard are 3-6 around here and continue in excellent form.

Dubawi colt who is a full-brother to the talented Group One winner Al Kazeem. Has revealed some ability without showing any signs of progress in two starts to date. May have been unsuited by the way the race developed last time and ought to be capable of better.

Arch colt who cost $425,000 as a yearling. Made a promising enough start at Leicester but failed to improve on that next time.

Third behind two short priced horses from top yards in a Lingfield maiden. That race lacked depth and more will be needed here.

100,000 gns son of Nathaniel out of an Anglesey Stakes winning mare. Easy to back for a decent Haydock maiden where he was eased when beaten. Bred to be much better than that but needs to have made significant progress over the last five weeks.

Forecasts

Kazawi (5/2), Lexington Law (11/4), Great Sound (3/1), Mudajaj (7/1), Cold Shoulder (8/1), Henry Croft (16/1), Sheila's Fancy (33/1), Striker (33/1), Sea Sovereign (33/1)

Verdict

Given his stable's record here, Great Sound commands a lot of respect on his debut. The son of Galileo is bred to appreciate the trip and with his stable in good form it would surprise few should he prove good enough to take his. He would still have to be above average to account for the more streetwise rival he faces in LEXINGTON LAW. Alan King's charge has an official rating of 85 and he was unlucky not to open his account last time. This looks a lot easier. Kazawi and Striker are bred to be a lot better than we have seen so far and should prove the pick of the rest.
  1. Lexington Law
  2. Great Sound
  3. Kazawi
