Justified favouritism on debut at Nottingham but only narrowly and couldn't follow up in a Class 3 contest at Sandown. Not disgraced in Group 3 company on final start of 2016 though and market can reveal whether he's ready to go on his return to action here.

Lost his way as a juvenile after two wins in his first three starts but bounced back with a win at Doncaster two starts back. Couldn't back that up at Goodwood last time but things didn't quite pan out for him there and he's the type to bounce back.

Won a weak looking maiden at Lingfield at the end of last year and not been given much relief from the handicapper since. Gone up another 3lb for not winning at Doncaster last time out and hard to fancy in a deeper contest.

This mark has a looked a little beyond him on four handicap starts in weaker races than this and needs to bounce back now for new yard.

Newbury maiden winner over 6f on soft ground in September and got back to that type of form with a fair runner-up effort at Doncaster last time. Both his best efforts have come on softer ground than what he's likely to get here though and possibly in need of a step up in trip.

Very consistent sort and rewarded for five placed efforts with a win in a Doncaster maiden last time out. Didn't need to improve to win that contest and could find life tougher in handicaps, particularly from this wide draw.

Moderate form last year with a small field turf winner and an AW win off a mark of 80. Struggled on both starts since though and very little promise in his comeback run at Chelmsford last month. Opposable.

Course winner who narrowly held on at Chester last time, justifying favouritism in the process. Didn't look in need of a step up in trip there though but only up 2lb in the handicap.

Raced exclusively on the AW to date but has looked better over 6f and may need this run after a break.

Has improved for the fitting of a tongue-tie on his most recent couple of starts. Up another 1lb for finishing second at Musselburgh last time, nearly got his head back in front once he had been headed and should go well again here. Would appear to be the owner's second string but it's right on Dettori's minimum weight so perhaps best not to read too much into first/second string picks.

Just one win from nine starts and looked like the winner at Ascot for a brief period last time out before getting overhauled and eventually finishing third of 16. Can miss the break but has to be of interest with this jockey booked who rides this course exceptionally well and ought to get his ground.

Excellent runner-up effort at Leicester last time out and due to go up another 3lb for that run when assessor has his say. First-time hood could help him settle a little better and better ground unlikely to be against him.

Forecasts

Juanito Chico (4/1), Firefright (9/2), Black Trilby (5/1), Wahash (7/1), Eaton Square (7/1), Musawaat (15/2), Atteq (16/1), Dr Julius No (20/1), Zamjar (20/1), Aardwolf (20/1), Plant Pot Power (25/1), Alkashaaf (33/1)

Verdict

ATTEQ is an interesting runner. While he appears to be the stables second-string, he has hit form since the application of headgear and gives the impression there may be more to come. As it's right on Dettori's minimum weight, it's not inconceivable he has an equal or better chance than his stablemate Wahash. Juanito Chico should give another good account after looking a little unlucky last time and Aarwolf is a game sort who looks the sort to bounce back from his recent disappointing effort.
  1. Atteq
  2. Juanito Chico
  3. Aardwolf
