Fibresand winner on his first run of the year over 5f backing up another AW win at Lingfield both off lower marks than he runs off here. Still a question mark about his effectiveness on turf with his form on the surface looking moderate compared to his AW form.
Both his wins have been on the AW over 6f when with Charles Hills and he did shape with some encouragement on his first outing for this yard at Windsor again over 6f. Looks to need some respite from the handicapper after his third here last time out.
Scored twice last year with the latest win coming here over slightly further off a mark of 74 and has run well on a couple of starts since returning from her winter break. Capable of winning off this mark but the feeling is that she doesn't have a lot of room to work with off it.
Surprisingly the only C&D winner in the field but was below form after a long break last time at Chepstow over 5f and well behind Silverrica last time out.
Reeled off a hat-trick in handicaps in March/April and finished a good third on his last start at Nottingham having won there previously off a mark of 63. Should remain competitive but faces competition for the lead here.
Started the year with a good second at Wolverhampton but has run a couple of poor races on her last two starts spoiling her chance by being very slow away. Won't be able to afford another slow start and faces some speedy types here.
Unreliable sort who won twice last year but has looked rather below that form on his last two starts and the last one particularly. Best when having a strong pace to run at but remains 3lb above his last winning mark and others are more solid and reliable here.
Starts life for a new yard having been with Bill Turner last year when managing to pick up a Brighton 5f handicap but doesn't look much better than his current mark.
Forecasts
Major Valentine (5/2), Silverrica (5/2), The Big Lad (9/2), Kyllukey (11/2), Quantum Dot (11/1), Fly True (12/1), Our Lord (14/1), Edged Out (20/1)
Fairly competitive stuff with MAJOR VALENTINE looking to back up a good run at Nottingham last time when 7lb above his last winning mark with the fast ground looking to suit. Silverrica has run some solid races at this course over slightly further and should be respected especially with a few of these looking to need some respite off their current marks like Kyllukey. The Big Lad would be far more fancied if this race was on an AW surface having not totally convinced on turf yet.
- Major Valentine
- Silverrica
- The Big Lad
