Failed to win for the David O'Meara yard last year (ran some solid enough races) but shaped quite well for his new yard at Doncaster recently. Of interest here with a promising apprentice booked for the ride.
Trainer is excellent with sprinters but this one is going the wrong way and looks to be becoming more and more difficult at the start and one to treat with caution.
A real combination of headgear is reached for here for a horse that has looked out of sorts this year and his trainer will be hoping that this eclectic headgear combination can wake him up a little.
Losing run is starting to looks a little long now but has run respectably of late and looks on a good mark if he can manage to find some form although 5f may be a little sharp these days.
Possibly a little unlucky last time out at Newcastle when finishing second as he was drawn away from the main action. Cheekpieces go back on here and that may eke out some improvement especially if he gets away on terms like he did last time.
Should come on for his run at Ripon recently where he looked as though he needed the run and back off a mark that he was successful off at Doncaster last year and that makes him a player here.
Well suited by the Fibresand at Southwell and won there in April off a mark of 61. Has held his form together pretty well since then finishing a creditable second last time out off this same mark.
Winner of back-to-back 5f handicaps last summer and ran some solid enough races off higher marks after that. Probably needed his most recent run at Nottingham but the handicapper does look to be in control.

Forecasts
Signore Piccolo (9/4), Burtonwood (4/1), Casterbridge (9/2), Borough Boy (8/1), John Joiner (9/1), Out Of The Ashes (9/1), Emjayem (12/1), Sarabi (16/1), Bahamian Heights (18/1)
Without a doubt Burtonwood ran a fine race last time out drawn away from the main action but he can start slowly and that leaves a question mark here. Casterbridge is well-handicapped if he found his form but might be better over 6f and Sarabi and Borough Boy would be preferred to him. With a promising apprentice booked SIGNORE PICCOLO is the selection here after his very decent return to action at Doncaster despite the slight doubt about the 5f trip.
- Signore Piccolo
- Burtonwood
- Sarabi
