Bred to have a bit of speed (dam a half sister to the useful sprinter Monsieur Joe) and yard do get first time out winners, so worth a second look in the market.
Belied his 50/1 odds with a good debut run at Doncaster, staying on well in the closing stages and that form is working out well (winner and fourth both winners again since). Seems no reason he won't build on that and should make an impression here.
Not beaten far on debut at Thirsk but weakened out of things late on. Possible we won't see the best of him just yet but should be up to winning a race or two this season. Others preferred today.
Society Rock colt that will want further than this in time. and yard just 2-29 here with their 2-y-o's in the last five seasons. Market best guide but others preferred at this stage.
Getting the hang of things and improved a little from first start to second, but already looks in need of further and this quick 5f may not play to his strengths.
Related to some black-type sprinters and showed plenty of potential on debut, running on well (despite signs of greenness) to finish third at Beverley. Will know more here and looks a player.
Speedily bred but showed very little on debut at Ripon, slowly away and never got in it. Better for that experience but needs to have come on an awful lot from it if he's to get among the principals.
Hasn't shown much on either start so far and looks one for low-grade nurseries further down the line. Others preferred.
Has shown a similar level of form on both starts to date, finishing fifth at Beverley last time out and giving the impression an easier track might suit. All the same, a bit to find on form, and is passed over today.
Probably won't see the best of this one until getting a bit more of a stamina test later in the season, although some speed in the pedigree on the dam's side. Yard had a recent winner and may be worth a glance in the market for a clue.
Signs of ability on debut at Leicester but hung a bit under pressure late in the contest. Will know more here and is worth a second look, but needs to build on that debut effort to hold a leading chance.
Half sister Gorokai was a 5f winner a couple of seasons back, although needed a bit of time to progress. Bred to be speedy but yard no 2-y-o winner here from 11 starts in last 5 years at the track. Best watched unless very strong in market.
Showed a bit of ability on debut at Beverley in April but not enough to suggest she'll be taking a hand here. Trainer's 2-y-o's usually brought on slowly and this one may be in that bracket.
The penny was starting to drop with her late on at Beverley on her debut and she stayed on in taking fashion to finish fourth. Will do better with that under her belt and yard do well with their 2-y-o's here (17-99 last 5 seasons). One to consider.
Forecasts
Luis Fernandez (9/4), Benadalid (7/2), Hot Rock (8/1), Chatburn (11/1), Shazzab (12/1), Arcavallo (12/1), We Are The World (14/1), Poet's Dawn (16/1), Emerald Rocket (16/1), Magnus (20/1), Elixsoft (20/1), Laydee Victoria (100/1), Plansina (100/1), Mount Hellvelyn (125/1)
Chris Fairhurst wouldn't normally be a name you associate with 2-y-o winners but there's no mistaking the promise that BENADALID showed in one division of the Brocklesby and if progressing form that, might take a bit of beating here. Hot Rock has run to a good level on both starts to date and is one to consider for the places, along with Shazzab, who should have learnt plenty from her debut, and Luis Fernandez.
- Benadalid
- Shazzab
- Hot Rock
