Tough to deal with on his day; rounded last season off in good style with a brace of wins, most notably in the Bronze Cup at Ayr. Returned with a sound effort at Doncaster but now requires another personal best after receiving a 5lb hike. Middle draw not ideal either.

On the plus side: he is versatile regarding the ground and is well drawn. Negatives are: he has been struggling a little from his current mark and may be more effective over 7f these days. Should be thereabouts but looks vulnerable on these terms.

Won two of his three starts after a gelding operation but hasn't been seen in action since August 2015, so too much guesswork involved in assessing how much ability he retains. Best watched on his first start for a new yard.

C&D winner from a 2lb lower mark but still looks harshly treated considering that he hasn't won for going on two years. Also needs to work hard to overcome a modest draw.

Just 1lb higher than his last winning mark but put in a respectable effort here last weekend, so not without hope. However, today's drop in trip is not absolutely certain to suit - he's only ever been placed once over 6f. Looks a risky option.

Infrequent winner these days but is suited by a little give underfoot. His course record is poor though - never even been placed from four previous visits to Thirsk.

Rounded off last season in good style but has been below that standard since returning to action last month. Usually goes well fresh so needs to prove the handicapper hasn't got his measure. Can nab a rail from his draw, so not all bad news.

Recent fourth at Newcastle reads well and has sound claims if he can adapt to racing back on turf. Poor effort at Doncaster last time out dampens the confidence though.

Recent rains have helped his cause but he is currently weighted to the hilt and has a lot to prove after failing to beat a single horse home in each of his last four starts.

Made good progress since last summer and paid his way with three wins at the Scottish Flat tracks. Now on a career highest mark but posted a solid effort in his return at Doncaster. Can't be discounted from a handy position on the rail.

Softening of the ground in his favour but has been below his best since returning from his winter break. Often needs a few outings before delivering his best.

Form figures read well but this is his toughest assignment for a while and faces something of an acid test. Also needs to prove he handles cut in the ground on turf.

Enjoyed a good spell last summer but has been a shade of better days since retuning to the fray this season. Capable on his day but still hard to fancy on recent form.

Already taken the measure of a few of these during a profitable recent spell on the AW; and notable that he has proved he also handles turf equally as well. May not have stopped progressing and worthy of consideration despite needing to post another personal best.

Locally trained, he is a consistent sort that is closely matched with a few old rivals. Should run his race and claims boosted by a plum draw. The rider taking 7lb off with his claim is a further bonus.

Useful on the AW but is far less exposed on turf. This will be the first time she has encountered ground this soft, so steps into the unknown on that score. Another that needs to defy a career highest mark.

Trainer has a good record in this race and, given that he is a previous C&D winner, the gelding has plenty going for him. This season's form has been a little patchy, however, and he needs to up the ante if he is going to get involved at the business end. Work to do from the draw.

Has a good record for attaining win and place money from his overall profile but recent evidence suggests he may have hit the buffers as far as improvement goes. 5lb lower than his last winning mark but something to prove just now.

Verdict

Assessing the draw of the previous ten winners shows that stall one isn't too much of a hindrance for the progressive NAGGGERS, who holds a few of these on recent form and may be able to confirm his superiority if he is granted a clear run through. There are dangers a plenty: Foolaad is also thriving on his racing and cannot be discounted from adding to his tally. Classic Seniority comes into the reckoning on the pick of his from but he faces no easy task under topweight. Handsome Dude also that has a feasible chance of reversing form with a few old rivals from a plum draw on the stands rail.
