Free racing type, but in the process of running a better race here last week when clouting the second last and losing all chance thereafter in a novice hurdle won by One For Billy. Settled slightly better than previously and gradually improving but others should be slightly stronger.

7/2
An early faller on his hurdles debut at Catterick in February, his confidence appeared shot to pieces when back in action at Market Rasen in March, but kept on (never nearer) from off the pace when 7L third to Applaus over C&D last month, and with that confidence booster behind him, looks the type to go well in similar company. Official rating of 105.

Rear to midfield finishes in two starts in bumpers, and fell at the first on hurdles debut over C&D last week. Returns quickly but with the hood applied for the first time.

1/4
119 rated over hurdles, and has finished either runner up or a winner on her last four starts over timber (victories at Fakenham and Sedgefield). Back on the Flat recently from a basement mark of 55, but only 2½L third to Zubaidah at Yarmouth (1m3½f). Holds an obvious chance with conditions in her favour, but perhaps a shade flattered by her rating.

66/1
Hasn't shown much ability in six starts on the Flat, and got no further than the second hurdle on his timber debut at Wetherby last month. Likely outsider.
Makes her debut aged eight by Guest Right out of Durness Duchess. A first reported foal out of an unraced mare who is a half-sister to a couple of Point-to-Point winners.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: Thomas Dowson(5)| T: R Shiels| OR:  77
66/1
Eight race maiden with an official rating of 77, so has plenty to find with some of the others on these terms. Well beaten last of eight (250/1) on her return from a break in a Perth novices hurdle last month.

Forecasts

Hint Of Grey (1/4), Hit And Run (7/2), Uluroo (7/1), Royal Act (16/1), Getonsam (22/1), Lucarno Dancer (66/1), Man Of La Mancha (66/1), Battlingbetty (80/1)

Verdict

HINT OF GREY is the clear pick of these runners on the ratings, and despite possibly being a shade flattered by her mark of 119, she ought to have enough in the locker to see off a fairly moderate bunch of rivals and record a third success over hurdles. Hit and Run is the pick off the remainder with his hurdling much better here recently, whilst the free going Getonsam will attempt to make all and could spring a surprise by figuring amongst the placings at decent odds.
  1. Hint Of Grey
  2. Hit And Run
  3. Getonsam
