Has so far proved unable to add to her Goodwood debut success from last season. Was doing her best work at the finish on her Redcar reppearance and can get closer to winning again today, though might need a little more assistance from the handicapper.
Has won her first two handicap starts, both over 7f, from marks of 66 and 70, both on the All Weather. Front pair were 2L clear again last time, when she stayed on strongly to score, so debatable whether this drop in trip is ideal, but otherwise she has hat-trick claims from 5lb higher.
Did not run as a juvenile but runner-up twice in maidens over 7f and 5½f in three starts this year, the latter being on fast ground at Bath last month. The strength of that form looks questionable, given the subsequent efforts of other runners, so she is likely to need to step up on it to win on her handicap debut.
Debut winner at Bath last season (5½f, soft) before being well beaten in a couple of nurseries. Dam placed over this trip, though pedigree suggests that she will be stepping back up again soon. Handicapper has cut her a bit of slack and this could be a good time to catch her again now that she is freshened up.
Debut winner at Goodwood last season (5f, good) and added to that in a Brighton handicap (5½f, good) three starts later from a mark of 74. 1lb lower than that win today after a couple of ordinary efforts in 2017 but too soon to write her off and she is respected.
Well beaten from 2lb higher on her nursery debut at the end of last season and now reappears in an easier contest. Related to sprinting success and did run well on her debut last time, so may be able to step up on previous form with stable going well.
Twice-placed in maidens (7f and 6f), she put in her best effort when last seen at Kempton in December. Needed her first run last year and that may be the case again today on her handicap introduction.
Won an auction maiden event at Redcar last season and was not disgraced on her nursery debut in a significantly better race than this, before disappointing here. Yard has a couple of recent winners and this filly went well on debut last year, so could be very competitive on her return.
Couldn't get her nose in front for Richard Hughes but did so on her second start for this trainer in a 6f Kempton handicap in January. 8lb higher today and was beaten favourite at Chelmsford last time, but that was over further and she might do better back over today's trip.
Comfortably accounted for in all three maiden starts and now makes her handicap debut from a very workable mark. Pedigree is not really about sprinting, however, and she should do better over further.
Won a 7f Lingfield maiden in December and wasn't far away back over that same C&D in a handicap in March. 1lb lower today but has her work cut out to reverse more recent Lingfield form with Tai Hang Dragon, with whom she is 3lb better off for a 3¼L defeat.
Forecasts
Kachess (7/2), Global Alexander (9/2), Tai Hang Dragon (6/1), The Stalking Moon (13/2), Santafiora (8/1), Limelite (12/1), In The Spotlight (14/1), Chicago Star (16/1), Touch Me (16/1), Quench Dolly (20/1), Island Cloud (25/1)
Tai Hang Dragon has obvious claims seeking a hat-trick and can again go close despite her latest 5lb rise in the weights, while Global Alexander can get competitive. Limelite and The Stalking Moon are others with their eyes on the prize, but preference is for SANTAFIORA, who won on debut last year, comes here fresh again and has been given a chance by the handicapper.
- Santafiora
- The Stalking Moon
- Tai Hang Dragon
