Comfortably held on both starts for this yard so far over 2m2½f and then here over 2m½f last time. Has dropped 10lb as a result of that and is on a more realistic mark, though pedigree suggests that his stamina will be under severe scrutiny over this far.
Beaten just 2L by Yanworth in a soft ground Newbury bumper in 2014, though that looks very flattering on the evidence of her three subsequent runs. Related to a staying hurdle/chase winner, so well worth a try over this longer trip. Handicap debut from a reasonable mark. Market check advised.
Won at Uttoxeter last year (2m, good) from 1lb lower and ran some reasonable races over fences thereafter. Out of form back over hurdles here last time, but this trip looks more likely to play to his strengths and from this mark he is not ruled out.
Has not added to his Towcester bumper win on debut 19 months ago, but put in a couple of decent efforts at Exeter in handicap hurdles during the autumn. Trip and going not a problem, though will have to improve to win from this mark.
Came good at the second attempt in handicap company at Wincanton in March (2m5½f, good to soft). The fourth has since come out and run well, giving that performance a solid look and from 3lb higher he can have a big say.
Inconsistent performer whose wins have all come from lower marks than today's and when there has been some give in the ground. Stays 3m, but unlikely to see him improve at this age and others make more appeal.
Beaten 10½L over C&D (good) on her second handicap hurdle start last month and that was not without encouragement in the context of this race. A further 2lb drop wll help and she is not one to be writing off yet.
Went close to winning from 3lb lower at Ludlow in November (2m5f, good) and put in a creditable effort in a better race than this at Musselburgh in January. Likely that this slightly longer trip than he raced over at Kempton last time will be a positive and from 1lb lower he can go very close.
The second of his two wins came over C&D in 2015 (good) from 8lb higher. Ran well from this mark when making the frame at Huntingdon in November, but other recent form disappointing and looks up against it.
Well beaten in all completed starts and pulled up in the remainder. Impossible to recommend from 10lb out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Rabunda (3/1), Anythingmayhappen (7/2), Presenting Berkley (7/1), Pearlita (8/1), It's Oscar (9/1), Northandsouth (9/1), Defining Year (10/1), Seymour Legend (16/1), Samson (16/1), Annie'sboydave (66/1)
Rabunda is well worth a market check ahead of this and Northandsouth is another of interest, while Anythingmayhappen also has claims from just 3lb higher than his recent winning mark. Even so, the suggestion is PRESENTING BERKLEY, for whom this trip looks just about ideal and on this sound surface he can come good.
- Presenting Berkley
- Anythingmayhappen
- Northandsouth
