Opened his account on this side of the Irish Sea when travelling smoothly and quickening up nicely to win at Lingfield in January over 6f. Has maintained his form after that although he might just need a little more here back on turf where his overall record doesn't read as well.

Looks well handicapped on some of his form but the fact remains that he is still to win a handicap and add to his juvenile win. Showed up well enough last time out over 5f at Beverley but once again his finishing effort was weak and he is looking harder and harder to win with.

In good form last year (recorded three handicap wins over 5-6f) and although his form tailed off at the end of the year he returned with a bang at Kempton Park after a break. A win there over 5f (made all) saw him go 3/3 on Polytrack although it was a good opportunity as he'd slipped below his last winning mark and faced a small field which looks to suit best.

Has looked a rather luckless type and probably deserves more wins to his name than his sole win as a two-year-old. Again encountered plenty of trouble last time out in a Newmarket handicap over 5f and would be better suited by a return to 6f.

Very smart sprinter in his better days (won off as high as 113) and although he's nowhere near as good these days he still managed to break a long losing run last time out. The handicapper has nudged him up 3lb for that win and that may just tip the scales against him.

A quick 5f may well not be what he needs these days with his last two victories coming over 6f and that looks his best trip these days. 6lb above his last winning mark and this may just be an outing that sets him up for targets further down the line.

Started favourite on his seasonal reappearance when fourth at Windsor (Stepper Point and Waseem Faris providing the 1-2) and has work to do with that pair. Races off the same mark here but is still 7lb above his last winning mark and doesn't look that far ahead of his mark.

Speedy type over the minimum trip who can travel strongly and has run two creditable races this season (placed both starts). Looked suited by Epsom last time out and should be suited by the sharp 5f here.

Mark has slipped back down to a very workable one and now back with one of his former yards. Shaped well enough last time out after looking out of form at the end of last season and if he can build on that the mark of 84 is one he has won off and he shouldn't be out of place here.

The key to him appears to be able to run in 0-80 grade and off this mark under the new rules he's eligible for that grade. Connections bring him here though and while the straight course may suit (struggled around a bend last time) he is a little out of his pay grade here.

Forecasts

Dark Shot (4/1), Vibrant Chords (5/1), Just That Lord (7/1), A Momentofmadness (8/1), Gamesome (8/1), Kasbah (8/1), Stepper Point (8/1), Boy In The Bar (8/1), Just Us Two (11/1), Waseem Faris (16/1)

Verdict

Trainer Robert Cowell has won this twice in recent years and he saddles Just Us Two here although this one looks to have a tough job on here in this grade. Vibrant Chords is likely to be all the rage here especially after his last run where he endured plenty of trouble in-running but that appears to be a problem that always afflicts him. Given that thought it may be better to looks elsewhere and the front-running and uncomplicated A MOMENTOFMADNESS gets the vote in a scenario that should suit him. Gamesome, Dark Shot and Stepper Point are all capable at this level although you could pick small holes in them all.
  1. A Momentofmadness
  2. Vibrant Chords
  3. Dark Shot
