Hat trick seeker who won nicely at Beverley last time out. Up in trip now which could suit (has run well over 2m previously), though this could be a tricky handicap mark for him to win off of.
Ran over an insufficient 1m2f at Newcastle last time but has been running well over further at the same course. He is fine on turf as well though and is lightly raced enough that improvement can still be expected.
Yet to get off the mark having finished a fair way behind the winners of three maidens so far. Switches to David Simcock now and steps up markedly in trip, which should suit. Unexposed and have the services of a top jockey to help.
Well beaten at Chelmsford last time but may not have taken to the all-weather surface on his first appearance on it. Generally ran well prior to that, even if he has been a little inconsistent, and he could get involved if deciding he's up for it.
Has been in good form recently with two wins and a second-placed finish in his three most recent racecourse appearances. Won his only previous start at this course (last time), and the ground shouldn't be a problem for him. Big player.
Has seemed regressive recently despite showing some positive form last year, with his form having tailed off both towards the end of last year, a trend which has continued so far in 2017. Does look well handicapped if getting back to his best, though.
Recently returned from a very long absence and hasn't figured on four starts since. Goes down 7lb but would need plenty more give than that on recent evidence, for all he used to be much more talented.
Consistent so far in 2017 with three victories so far, and now back on turf where his handicap rating is much lower than on the all-weather. Won only narrowly when 6/4 favourite at Bath last time but is only up 2lb as a result and should run another big race.
Best run came on debut at Pontefract (1m4f), but that was a weak race even for a maiden auction, and he has duly struggled since. Just as ineffectual on handicap debut last time but down 4lb now. That's a positive but possible he'll need some more help from the handicapper before getting his head in front.

The suggestion is MIDTECH STAR, who has been running some nice races so far in 2017. Switched back to the turf at Bath last time, on which he has a much lower handicap rating, he perhaps should have won slightly more easily than he did but he's only been raised 2lb and should improve on his second run back on grass. Meanwhile a better showing can be expected from Codeshare now he's back up in trip, while New World Power brings an unexposed angle into the race on his handicap debut.
