Pretty consistent when he gets his ground and, given the nature this course (no watering system so can be on the fast-side occasionally), he should enjoy the conditions. Posted a good effort on his debut for his current yard last time out and is a threat to all if able to repeat the dose from just 2lb higher than his last winning mark on the Flat.

Formerly with Sir Michael Stoute but was moved on after making little impact in three outings. Better than his finishing position would suggest (last) when making his debut for his new yard in a tougher looking race over 1m just over a week ago. Needs to improve for the step up in trip.

Lightly raced but not achieved much up to press; has a lot to find even in this moderate company.

Interesting that Jamie Spencer hangs around for the ride, which virtually guarantees some form of support. Set to race from just 2lb higher than his last winning mark, so does have claims to match. Heads the shortlist.

Respected on his latest second at Wolverhampton but overall profile on the flat is hardly the most convincing. Improvement required.

Like a few of the rest, he has stamina in abundance, but conversely may not be be as ideally suited to what may prove to be an inadequate trip.

As exposed as they come and, with just a solitary win to his name from 49 previous starts, he is difficult to recommend as a reliable option. Unlikely to be a 50 for this fellow.

Forecasts

Hallingham (11/8), The Detainee (2/1), The Quarterjack (10/3), Moon Arrow (4/1), Skylark Lady (10/1), Petrify (12/1), Golden Muscade (12/1), Eben Dubai (14/1), Awesome Rock (22/1)

Verdict

A chance is taken on HALLINGHAM, who has solid claims from just a 2lb higher mark than for his last win. The booking of Jamie Spencer adds intrigue and justification for supporting Petrify, who has similar claims to the selection in terms of his current rating a looks a viable alternative. The Detainee has been knocking on the door and also appeals as one to bear in mind if the betting highlights him as a positive selection.
  1. Hallingham
  2. Petrify
  3. The Detainee
