Former winning hurdler who has recently been switched to the Flat. Couldn't quicken to challenge on debut and another minor role looks likely here.
Fair hurdler who makes only his third appearance in a Flat race having been well beaten here a week ago. Will need to show much more in order to get competitive here.
This most experienced contender in the field but has finished close on all his all-weather starts so far (disappointed on his only appearance on turf). Could find this her best opportunity yet, especially if others disappoint.
Probably one of the more appealing debutants in the field, with a pedigree that should suit for this distance and a trainer who has a fair record with newcomers. Worth a check in the market.
Is related to several winners and is from a family who can be relatively versatile trip-wise, but it's not unusual for this trainer''s to improve for the run and he is best watched on debut.
Well beaten over a furlong shorter at Kempton on debut when running very green. Could put up a better performance today if having learnt from that, but others still hold more appealing claims.
Steps up in trip again here having come up short over 1m2f at Redcar last time but may have needed that run after a long break since finishing second on his debut. More needed here but could be much better second time out this season with cheek pieces applied.
Well beaten on his first two starts but that was by runaway winners on each occasion (both were short-priced favourites). No obvious class act in this field and there should be more improvement to come, especially at this trip.
Cost 110,000gns as a yearling and is well-bred being a half-brother to Listed winner Sweet Cecily. Interesting to see him started off at this trip but more than capable of making an impression if fully getting the distance.
Ran a fair race when finishing fourth on debut at Nottingham over much shorter, when shaping as if a step up in trip would suit, an impression which is backed up by his breeding. Leading contender in this.
Forecasts
Cape Peninsular (11/4), Steaming (11/4), Migyaas (11/4), Physicist (7/2), Red Master (20/1), Global Empire (20/1), Nachi Falls (50/1), I'm Running Late (66/1), Benissimo (66/1), I'm Right On Time (80/1)
This is an open looking affair, but perhaps STEAMING is the one to side with. He ran a good race in fourth on debut over a fair bit shorter when looking like he was crying out for a step up in trip, which is backed up by his breeding. He gets that longer distance today and should go close, especially if coming on for that first racecourse appearance. The well-bred Global Empire makes the most appeal of the newcomers, while Cape Peninsular is more exposed than most in the field but may have her best opportunity to get off the mark yet.
- Steaming
- Global Empire
