Enjoyed a cracking second half to last season, winning three of her last five starts to rise 14lb in the handicap. Slightly shorter trip here should not be a problem, though she may be in the grip of the assessor now and stable not fully firing at present.

Was winning in Listed company a couple of years ago, though not as good now. 4lb higher today than when scoring at Ayr (7f) in September. Well held on two starts after that and now reappears after a break. Interesting jockey booking, though would like to see market support for him.

This is very much his trip these days, having picked up one win over it in each of the last three years. That includes his latest success over C&D in February from 7lb lower. Should be competitive from this mark, but may find one or two too good.

Won three races from 7f-7½f last season. 4lb higher than when running well in defeat after that. Gelded before his reappearance, which was satisfactory and could go better today. Competitive.

Hasn't won since August 2015, though remains 2lb higher today despite only once going close to winning since. Has been gelded and changed yards since his last start. Interesting if supported, though more than likely one to watch today.

Wonderful servant at this level, having won 15-87. Best recent form has been over 1m. Goes into this 8lb higher than his last two wins and that suggests that he may just come up short over this trip today.

Has outperformed market expectations quite often in the past year or so since being gelded and risen a stone in the weights. Been found wanting on his last couple of runs in this class and that is the major concern going into this.

Looked like a winner in waiting on his first start at Newmarket last season, but never managed to get his nose in front all season. Form tailed off and has since been gelded and switched stables. Stays over this trip, despite being well held on his last three starts over it.

Both wins have been over 6f, the latter from just 1lb lower than today. Failed to cope with step up in class later in the campaign and now returns for the first time in six months for new yard among the winners. Was runner-up on this trip on debut and well worth another try. Very interesting.

Goes well here with two course wins, one over this trip, to his name. 3lb higher from his best winning mark but if producing his best then he can definitely have a say in the closing stages.

Looks plenty high enough in the weights ahead of this, but is a consistent performer and more or less picked up where he had left off last season on his recent Newbury reappearance over 1m2f. Drop back in trip no problem for him and is respected.

Won a couple of novices' auction contests last season, both over 6f. Also went close in valuable 2yo event at York before form declined. Failed to get home over 1m on his reappearance, but with that run under belt and this drop in trip he can do better today.

Followed up a Haydock maiden win with success over this trip at York on his handicap debut in October. Anchored by a 10lb rise for that on his next start, but related to winners over this trip and may well make further progress this term.

Forecasts

Viscount Barfield (9/2), Rusumaat (5/1), Ower Fly (6/1), That Is The Spirit (8/1), Outer Space (8/1), Comedy School (8/1), Ghalib (10/1), Loyalty (10/1), Ripoll (12/1), Pearl Spectre (16/1), Grand Inquisitor (20/1), Ice Lord (20/1), Breakable (25/1)

Verdict

With Ryan Moore up it would be prudent to check out the market to see if there is much confidence in That Is The Spirit on his return from a break. Grand Inquisitor is also interesting now that he has switched yards and races for the second time since being gelded, while Comedy School may improve and both Ripoll and Pearl Spectre have claims. However, ICE LORD is suggested on his first start for Chris Wall, now reverting to this trip.
  1. Ice Lord
  2. Comedy School
  3. That Is The Spirit
