£5,000 yearling out of a maiden half-sister to a German Listed 7½f 2yo Listed winner. Grandam a Group-placed winning full-sister to St Leger and Racing Post Trophy winner Brian Boru. Unfancied and well beaten here on debut. Drop in trip and that experience could be positive but would like to see support for him.

Put in several steady efforts in maidens, including being beaten a little under 2L here two starts ago. Only 1L shy of success when tried over 5f in handicap company last time. Raised 2lb for that and interesting that connections return to a maiden. Claims.
Made marginal progress from first start to second, being runner-up in both of those in the past month. Further half furlong looks a potential positive here and he is entitled to plenty of respect.

£70,000 yearling, but so far this relative of several winners over sprint trips has not looked liked getting involved in maiden company. Should do better when going handicapping.

Made a pleasing debut at Kempton in June, but looked to have regressed on his comeback at the same venue last month. Has since left John Gosden for this yard. Dam won over this trip, so the drop should not be a big issue, but clearly a fair bit to prove.

Half-sister to three sprint winners and out of a mare who won over 5f, including in Listed company as a 2yo. Stable in good form and has a 19% strike rate with its 3yos on the All Weather, so she looks more interesting than most in this line-up.

By Invincible Spirit out of an Argentine Group 1 winning mare. Sent off joint-favourite on debut over this trip at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and showed a good attitude when headed to battle back and just fail. Front pair were 4L clear there and a repeat effort would make her tough to beat.

Forecasts

Historic Event (11/10), Fair Cop (5/2), Five Star Frank (9/2), Secret Strategy (6/1), Double Spin (25/1), Angelical Eve (100/1), Socks And Shares (200/1)

Verdict

HISTORIC EVENT sets the standard after going close on debut and with any improvement in her for that first run she will prove difficult to get by. Fair Cop is an interesting newcomer from a yard in good form and a debut success would be no great surprise. Five Star Frank is exposed but he and Secret Strategy can make some sort of impact on the contest.
  1. Historic Event
  2. Fair Cop
  3. Secret Strategy
