Musselburgh maiden winner over 7f as a juvenile but disappointed in two subsequent starts in nurseries over the same trip. Returned from a winter break with a run that showed more promise when fourth at Redcar over a mile (not bred for that test) and did at one stage look a threat. Handicapper has given him a chance and it will be interesting to see what he can do here and holds multiple entries.
Has done most of his racing over this trip but as yet the yard have been unable to find the key to him and he remains a maiden. His three handicap runs have all come in a better grade than this and the handicapper has relented and that allows him to run in a 0-70 for the first time. Looks as though some headgear might help although he does wear a tongue tie for the first time and he does come from a yard that has made a good start to the season.
A nursery winner last year on his debut in that sphere over 7f at Musselburgh off a mark of 62. Didn't really build on that in a couple of further runs as a two-year-old but shaped very nicely on his seasonal debut over C&D recently when not ideally placed after a poor start. Could well do better with this behind him off the same mark but may just need a good pace or a little further to see him in the best light.
Her first run this year saw her win at Southwell (handicap debut) showing much improved form on her first run for this yard. Failed to follow-up under a penalty on a different AW surface at Wolverhampton and did better returned to the Fibresand after that. Again failed to show her best on another AW surface at Chelmsford last time out and it could well be she's much better at Southwell than anywhere else with her previous turf form being moderate.
The second runner from this yard in the contest and making her handicap debut here after failing to build on a promising debut as a juvenile. May well prove better in handicaps after a break and hard to write anything off from this yard but probably best watched for now.
Two promising runs last year bookended one that wasn't but the good has to outweigh the bad with this one from a leading yard making his handicap debut. On the balance of his form last year looks to be one of the more interesting ones here from a leading yard who have a better than par record with their handicap debutantes in this age group.
Well drawn for one who likes to press on from the front on a track that can suit front runners. Didn't offer that much on his stable/handicap debut at Newcastle over a mile fading out of contention well before the finish and something to prove here on his second start for this yard.
Form was fairly modest when trained in Ireland and not much better (if at all) in GB for his current yard and makes his handicap debut here from a wide draw. Faces a stiff task on the evidence of his starts so far and others are much preferred.
Blinkers went on fairly quickly last year and although he ran fairly well on his handicap debut he still didn't look the most enthusiastic. Well-backed for his second start in a nursery at Redcar over a mile he looked hard work with his temperament again looking suspect. Looks one to take care with on his seasonal reappearance with the blinkers now removed.
Forecasts
Fleetfoot Jack (10/3), Atteq (4/1), Our Charlie Brown (9/2), Geophony (9/2), Starlite Sienna (8/1), He's A Toff (14/1), Seaview (14/1), Dapper Man (18/1), Pindaric (33/1)
An interesting contest with Fleetfoot Jack the pick of the three handicap debutantes coming from a stable that is always respected with this type. Geophony and Atteq are both given a chance by the handicapper and could well step forward on what they have already accomplished off slightly lower marks. OUR CHARLIE BROWN has a difficult draw to overcome here and he’ll need to start a little more sharply that he did last time out but he looked a likely improver for that run and if he gets a good pace to run at here may well be able to swoop late to pick up the spoils.
- Our Charlie Brown
- Fleetfoot Jack
- Geophony
