Goes well fresh and has won on the Polytrack at Newcastle after a break, so feasible that he can brush aside his time away from the action. Starts the season on a very tough looking mark, though, and needs to be on his A-game. However, this is pretty modest fare and, with his rider's 5lb claim easing the burden, topweight may not insurmountable in this company.
All his previous wins (including two at this course) have been attained over 7f and, while he is respected on the pick of his form, he has yet to really convince 1m is within his compass.
Dropped into claiming company but at least rounded off his time in Ireland on a high note and has looked progressive since stepped up to a mile. More to do in this company but is proven on an AW surface and has the assistance of an in-form jockey who's confidence around this course has been profitable tool in the locker. One for the shortlist.
Only 5lb higher than her last winning mark, but very off-putting that her losing streak stands at 32 and she has been quite frustrating to follow. Needs a little more assistance from the handicapper.
Lightly raced and has been pretty consistent in winning three of his six previous starts. Has a bit to prove after going off the boil towards the end of last season and may have been in need of the run when his finished a well held fourth over 7f earlier this month. The return to a mile should be ideal; one to bear in mind if the market vibes are positive.
Returned from a gelding operation to win over 7f at this course last season and later followed it up with a similar performance on turf at Leicester. Not seen since down the field at Ascot last September and appears to face a tough test from just a 1lb lower mark. Tries a mile for the first time but may be best watched just for now.
Like many of her stablemates, most of her form is from overseas and difficult to put in to context from a handicapping point of view. Her two previous runs in the UK do suggest the poor level of form may be more than just an issue than acclimatising and her claims are not too difficult to overlook.
Forecasts
Replenish (2/1), Takatul (9/4), Take The Helm (11/2), Chestnut Fire (8/1), Noble Peace (8/1), Bint Dandy (11/1), Diana Lady (100/1)
Likely to be a tactical affair but REPLENISH has a proven liking for racing when fresh and has been found a weak opening to kick-start his season. The selection is on a stiff looking mark, however, and needs to be cherry ripe to prevail. Chestnut Fire missed a recent engagement at Nottingham but is much better on the AW, so may be the one to throw down the gauntlet. Takatul is lightly raced and, with the step up in trip sure to suit, he can also ensure a competitive race ensues. Noble Peace is taken as the best of the rest but needs to prove his stamina for the trip.
- Replenish
- Chestnut Fire
- Takatul
