Narrow C&D winner in a selling handicap last time and goes up 3lb for that win. That's more than accounted for by an apprentice jockey claiming 7lb, but he's still entitled to struggle now back in an open handicap.

C&D winner in November but put little good form in the book since and remains on a higher mark than for that win. At the very least, the drop back down in trip from 1m6f last time will suit.

All four of his career wins have come over further than this and he remains 6lb higher in the handicap than for his last win. Looks unlikely to have the tactical pace to win a race over this trip.

Has shown good form at this course previously but the handicapper looks to have caught up with him by now. Even gradually dropping down the weights, he has shown little to suggest a third career win is coming anytime soon.

C&D winner last time out in emphatic style, who unsurprisingly goes up 9lb for that wide margin victory. He's clearly going the right way though and it's entirely feasible he could improve enough to get involved again, especially in a race which doesn't look especially strong on paper.

Has only had two races since December 2014, so it's difficult to gauge where her ability is at the moment, but the fact remains that her sole win came over a mile (at Dundalk), and this trip is liable to stretch her stamina.

Senor George14
Age: 10|  Weight: 8-10| J: L Morris| T: S Hodgson| OR:  48

Finished second by a head to Thorntoun Care in a selling handicap over C&D last time out which was a good performance, but his losing streak dates back to July 2015 and he's not getting any younger.

Lightly raced and has shown anything to get too excited about on five starts so far but he steps up to this trip for the first time today and it's conceivable that that could bring out some improvement in him.

Sole win in his career so far came over 1m6f at Southwell, suggesting that he needs much more a test than this. Jockey booking is a positive but he seems to have too big a task on his hands here.

Forecasts

Bottleofsmoke (5/6), Thorntoun Care (11/2), Star Ascending (13/2), Senor George (9/1), Stonecoldsoba (10/1), Dibloam (20/1), Barnacle (20/1), Flying Author (20/1), Balmont Belle (25/1), Ballyfarsoon (25/1)

Verdict

If he can keep improving, this could be another rung on the ladder for BOTTLEOFSMOKE. He was very impressive over C&D last time when sent off a short price and though he is obviously penalised by the handicapper he won with plenty in hand that day and remains unexposed. Stonecoldsoba could prove to be the best of the rest if the step back in trip suits as it should, while Dibloam has shown little so far but could have more to give as he's very lightly raced.
