Dansili filly who is a half-sister to the useful Tamadhor. Trainer in flying form this week and anything he sends out should be respected but he doesn't send many out that win with a first-time tongue-tie, so may not be one to go overboard with.
Cape Cross filly, cost €45,000 as a yearling and then 72,000 gns at the breeze-ups but this looks a sharp enough test on debut.
Zoffany filly, cost €20,000 as a foal and 50,000 gns as a yearling. This trip likely to be her minimum and would probably prefer some softening of conditions but yard are flying and the booking of this jockey suggests a big run may be expected.
Exceed and Excel filly who cost 155,000 gns at the breeze-ups. Related to plenty of winners and trainer's runners are often more forward than others at this time of year. He also has a good strike-rate with horses wearing first-time headgear (30.43%) so she's one of the likelier candidates.
Half-sister to winners from 5f right through to 1m4f, so this is likely to be a fact finding mission. Stable not so far associated with maiden winners and a watching brief is suggested.
New Approach filly, cost €80,000 as a yearling. Related to plenty of speedy types and she must be respected for these connections who have had a remarkable week so far at Newmarket.
Shamardal filly, cost 300,000 gns as a yearling. Full-sister to Group 2 winner Puissance De Lune and will be well suited to this sort of trip. Jockey has a good record when riding for this trainer and worth his 3lb claim so that could be invaluable.
Rip Van Winkle filly who looks sure to want further than this. Trainer does well with his fillies though so any market support should be noted.
Pivotel filly, cost 62,000 gns as a foal and €370,000 as a yearling. Trainer has started this season well and adept at getting his newcomers ready so this filly is respected when bearing in mind she's related to some fair winners over this sort of trip.
Forecasts
Poana (3/1), Alnaas (10/3), Princess De Lune (7/2), Tirania (4/1), Flourishing (9/1), Domitilla (14/1), Dr Goodhead (16/1), Majorette (28/1), Tenby Two (33/1)
Quite possibly the weaker of the two divisions but still likely to be a race that throws up a bunch of future winners. It's hard to get away from the claims of POANA for a yard in such good form and provided she stays, she should run well. Princess De Lune is another interesting candidate and she should be well suited by conditions while Flourishing and Tirania represent trainer's that do particularly well with horses having their racecourse debuts.
- Poana
- Princess De Lune
- Flourishing
