A fair chaser at his best, two most recent offerings have been decidedly poor, including last month's debut for this trainer. A while now since he's shown his best form but a return to it would have him right in the firing line.

Won a handicap over 2m5f here off mark of 107 on first start for trainer in November and scored again off 9lb higher at Clonmel in December. Flopped at Limerick over Christmas and just once run over hurdles so should be fresh and run a good race here.

A two-time winner over fences, he isn't the most reliable of performers and was already beaten when falling last month at Gowran Park.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-8| J: Ms K Ferris(7)| T: G Elliott| OR:  121

Modest record of one win from 23 attempts over fences, has failed to complete in two most recent outings and so comes into this with questions to answer.

Winner at Punchestown in October over 2m6f but has found increased mark harder to operate off in three outings since, including this month at Navan.

Doesn't win as often as might seem likely but ran a super race in the Topham at Aintree recently and is rated much lower in this country so must have leading claims now.

Was in cracking form this time last year, much less so in four runs this season but would have claims off this rating if coming back to his best but isn't getting any younger.

Recent run at Navan off this rating over 2m4f suggests this is going to prove tough, hasn't shown his best for a while now.

Experienced campaigner but winless streak now stands at 31, plenty to find here if hoping to end that sequence.

Has been out of form over timber of late and pulled up when last seen chasing at Punchestown in January. Goes back up in trip for this contest.

In good form this season and has been agonisingly denied in two of his previous three runs, up 3lb for latest of those at Downpatrick over 2m3f last month. Big player.

5/2
Raised 7lb for handy Tramore success over 2m5f a week ago, he had plenty in hand there and with his rider negating the bulk of his increase, looks set for another big run.

Forecasts

Presenting Julio (5/2), Thomond (7/2), I'm An Izz Wizz (11/2), Whatareudoingtome (7/1), Cecil Corbett (10/1), Smadynium (12/1), Killer Crow (16/1), Toushan (16/1), Mtada Supreme (20/1), Rebel Cry (20/1), Coldstonesober (33/1), Pumbaa (33/1)

Verdict

Presenting Julio was in fine tune last week at Tramore when scoring and he has relatively low miles on the clock so there a good chance of more to come from him. He has to be respected and is potentially the leading hope of three from the Elliott yard. I'M AN IZZ WHIZZ hasn't exactly had much luck, going down in two thrillers this season, most recently at Downpatrick and he wouldn't be winning out of turn and might finally break through now. Given his efforts in the Topham off an inflated handicap mark, Thomond surely has the potential for a big run in this under his excellent rider.
