Winner at Pontefract when the runner-up looked unlucky. Faced a stiff task last time and does so again with others looking better handicapped.
Beat a 92 rated rival when making all at Newbury but it would be a mistake to take that at face value given the proximity of more lowly rated horses. Today's mark looks about right and the yard have started to find the target with more regularity in the past 10 days with a record of 5-10.
2000 Guineas entry who cost 360,000 guineas and who made no mistake when landing his maiden in emphatic style. Rider is a rare visitor here and this must be the one he has come for. Stable's three-year-olds are in excellent form and he could prove to be a cut above these.
Definitely has two ways of running. Gives himself plenty to do but compensates with a tremendous finish when in the mood. Blinkers had the desired effect last time but may not have the same impact. Track may find him out and this represents a step up in quality.
In good form with three winter AW wins but this looks a much tougher heat. Meets potentially better treated and less exposed rivals now and could be found wanting.
Brought along patiently and duly landed his maiden on good to soft ground. Makes AW debut but sire's stock have performed well on such surfaces. Handicapper has set him a stiff task and has factored in more improvement than may be forthcoming.
Had four winners behind when making all to spreadeagle his rivals at Carlisle. Looks more than attractively treated on that effort, but needs to correct a tendency to miss the break which hampered his progress. Yard's horses are going well without actually winning. Jockey has a modest 3-32 for yard. Makes AW debut but by a sire whose progeny handle it well.
Has work to do with Burrishoole Abbey having finished a distant third to him at Carlisle and only having 1lb more to play with. May be better on a slower surface..
Forecasts
Medahim (6/4), Original Choice (3/1), Parfait (7/2), High Acclaim (8/1), Berkshire Boy (12/1), Abiento (20/1), Burrishoole Abbey (25/1), Vatican Hill (25/1)
Several nice types line up for this for some of the top yards and this will be fiercely competitive. Burrishoole Abbey starts the campaign on an attractive mark and could upset a few of these at the forecast odds. He has hampered himself with slow starts but on the day he timed it right he blew away a good field at Carlisle and is undoubtedly well handicapped on that form if he can break on terms. He clearly holds Abiento on that form but may find the Guineas entry MEDAHIM too good for him. The Hannon team have had a good month with their second season horses and this expensive purchase may go on to prove himself better than a handicapper. Parfait made all to score last time and with the yard hitting form he is another to consider.
- Medahim
- Burrishoole Abbey
- Parfait
