A winner on the Flat in his younger days but hasn't yet managed to get his head in front over hurdles from 11 attempts despite placing on four occasions. Unseated early when attempting this sort of trip for the first time, so jury still out.
Warwick bumper winner just over a year ago (soft) but has thus far failed to sparkle in five attempts over hurdles, pulling up after folding tamely at Huntingdon last time. Dropped 6lb and this looks a lesser race but still hard to warm to right now.
Only limited promise shown in four hurdle starts but his CV does a contain a point-to-point win, suggesting there is more to come. Cheekpieces introduced for handicap debut, so has to be of interest with yard going OK.
Well-placed to win four times over hurdles, the last three of those wins coming over 3m at Taunton on good ground or softer. Form elsewhere is less impressive and, though she's feasibly-treated, a poor latest effort at Plumpton doesn't augur well.
Struggled to land a blow in point-to-points and it's been a similar story in maiden and novice hurdle events so far. Returns from a break to make a handicap debut needing significant improvement
No show in bumpers or in three novice hurdle events before dropping away very tamely on his handicap debut over 3m1f (good to soft) at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Probably best watched in the short term despite a 5lb drop.
Tends to mix chasing and hurdling these days and finished runner-up to Burgess Dream off this mark on heavy ground at Lingfield (2m7f) in January. Below that level over the same C&D last time but hard to dismiss in a trappy affair.
Hadn't looked any great shakes until landing a bit of a touch off a 9lb lower mark over 3m at Towcester (good to soft) in December, coasting home to score by 14L. Not in the same mood when beaten out of sight next time, so hard to assess.
Record reads 3 wins from 43 under rules, his last win coming over C&D over three years ago from a 26lb higher mark. Steadily declined since then and again well beaten into fourth at Chepstow last month. Dropped 3lb.
Popped up with successive wins in March 2015 but largely disappointing either side of those victories, running so sort of race when quietly fancied for a 3m event at Taunton latest. Returns from a short break with something to prove.
Won on fast ground at Worcester almost four years ago for his only win from 26 starts under rules and, following an uninspired spell in point-to-points, he was soundly beaten in a weak race at Taunton last month. Hard to fancy.
Old stager who has been on a very poor run of late, having not placed since December 2013. Very much seems to be past his prime and is surely best left alone despite sinking in the handicap.
Forecasts
An Siltean (5/2), Ultimate Dream (9/2), Shambougg (8/1), Storm Alert (17/2), Flugzeug (10/1), Dragoon Guard (10/1), Damby's Star (12/1), Oscar Jane (16/1), Academy General (16/1), Redbridge Miller (16/1), Seymour Legend (20/1), Kilrush (33/1)
Plenty of unreliable types here and Ultimate Dream could take some stopping if in the same mood he was in when scoring decisively at Towcester on his penultimate start, albeit from a lower mark. The suspicion is there is more to come from both Dragoon Guard and Shambougg but Harry Fry may have found an ideal opportunity for point-to-point winner AN SILTEAN on his handicap debut with first-time cheekpieces applied.
- An Siltean
- Dragoon Guard
- Ultimate Dream
