Won over C&D when last seen out and has a chance of following up from just a 3lb higher mark. No easy task under topweight but the rider's 5lb helps to off-set some of the burden.
Usually takes a few runs to put him straight and is currently 7lb higher than for his last win. Respected but others look more attractively weighted.
Made his debut in an extended 1m5f Bumper at Huntingdon but has fared reasonably well since switching codes - progressing nicely to win two of his three starts on the AW. Up in class but is going the right way and may still have a bit more to offer now he switches back to racing on turf.
Won twice over C&D last season and starts the campaign from just a 2lb higher mark than for his last win. Should be fit from his exploits on the AW and makes the shortlist with the ground in his favour.
Likes Redcar (finished second in this race last year from just a 1lb lower mark) and has a C&D win to his name. Likely to be sharper for the recent outing on the AW at Newcastle and, with his yard is in good form just now, he looks to have been primed for a bold show.
Returned to run well over C&D after being gelded last year but appeared to lose his way as the season progressed. Was tried in headgear a couple of times as the back-end of the season but still came up short. Notable that the appliances are dispensed with for the time being and may be best watched until he shows signs of a revival.
Confirmed his well being with a solid effort on his reappearance at Doncaster and copes well with the hustle and bustle of a large field. Back on a winning mark and looks one of the more likely options. Good jockey booking and yard turning the corner are other positive aspects to bolster his case.
Dropped to a handy mark by the end of last season and started to get competitive as a result. The rider's 3lb is a handy asset and, as he represents a yard that is more than capable of lining one up for a race of this nature, he is a worthy contender for the shortlist.
A consistent type that has hit the frame in six of his eight starts on turf. But has still been given a chance by the handicapper. Starts the season on a handy mark and notable that his new yard is in good form just now. Decent place claims if primed after his long winter break.
Yard won this race last year and has again hit the ground running for the new turf season. However, this fellow does tend to need a couple of runs under his belt and also looks a little high in the weights; so has his work cut out for him to claim back-to-back victories for the Fahey team.
Won from a mark as high as 84 during his time in Ireland but his form took a dive during the last twelve months and he looks a shade of the horse he once was. Possible that he will have enjoyed the change of scenery after his recent switch in yards; but others have a more convincing profile just now.
Won a run of the mill maiden at Ayr last summer but failed to back it up in handicaps. (7 of his 10 starts have been at Ayr.) Starts this season on a fair looking mark but is in danger of becoming hard to win with. yard also very quiet just now.
Trainer has targetted this race with a fair degree of success (won the first two renewals with similarly rated horses) so this previous C&D winner certainly merits respect for that fact alone. A bit of give underfoot wouldn't go amiss but he has also won on good to firm, so can adapt to the state of the ground. Sound claims of at least making the frame.
Made the most of a lenient mark to score on his final outing last season; but that was a much weaker race than this, and, from a 5lb higher rating, he has a bit to find in this company.
2lb wrong at the weights and looks to face a stiff test in his bid to follow up his recent class 6 handicap win, even though his rider takes a further 7lb off his back.

A number of these have solid claims and the likes of Bernie's Boy, Midnight Macchiato and Shamaheart are all capable of paying their way at this level and can be considered as options in a wide-open handicap. However, ZEALOUS ran well in defeat at Doncaster's opening meeting, which may give him the edge on this occasion. Mustaqbal represents a trainer with a good record in this race and is also a potential threat.
