Winner at the track in September over shorter trip but was disappointing over this trip when last spotted in December and this looks a stiff enough task on return to action.
Able performer has scored three times over C&D, including this contest 12 months ago, but evidence of latest run in February suggests the handicapper retains a decent grip and is just 1lb lower now.
Not beaten all that far into fifth over C&D last month in a race won by Specific Gravity, gets a 3lb pull at the weight with that rival and entitled to be in the mix.
Regular at this track and scored sixth win and first at this trip last month, with the likes of Udogo and Political Policy in behind. Disappointing in valuable mile handicap on turf since at Naas but not written off back here despite handicap making things tougher.
Third behind Specific Gravity over C&D last month, not beaten far and weighted to close the gap now. Has won around here and at this trip before and ought to be player in this.
Not beaten all that far over C&D in October when last seen, races off a 4lb lower mark and should go close if primed for action off a break.
Another of those that finished behind Specific Gravity here last month over this trip. Has more to find with that rival than some, and looks booked for place money at best.
Won over this C&D in 2014, though more recent successes have come at shorter trips, including in February. Just over 4L sixth last month in race won by Specific Gravity, has since gone close again over 1m2f, possibly seen to best effect at that trip nowadays.
Ran a pleasing race here last month over this trip and while this is certain to be ultra-competitive, isn't easily dismissed on handicap debut.
Recorded a quick double here in February over shorter trips and since been touched off twice, including three weeks ago when attempting this trip for the first time. Not hard to see him being competitive again despite career high mark.
Attempted to steal the race from the front last time when dropped to this trip, collared close home and settled for third with Ligeti taking second. Should be competitive again.
Bit to find with Ligeti on last month's run here, also finished behind front-running Venezia in that race. Off the same mark, may have place claims.
Forecasts
Ligeti (3/1), Abraham (5/1), Venezia (13/2), Time For Mabel (13/2), Udogo (8/1), Ringside Humour (10/1), Political Policy (10/1), Specific Gravity (11/1), Catchy Lass (14/1), Poitin (14/1), Birthplace (20/1), Glenbank King (33/1)
Ligeti has been running credibly in defeat of late after his February double and should once more give a decent account of himself. Venezia may not get a handy lead to play with this time while Specific Gravity faces a much more difficult assignment against some of the rivals he beat over C&D last month. Abraham is one to note in the betting on his reappearance off what could be a very workable mark while Glenbank King isn't ruled out on his handicap debut. The nod goes to UDOGO, who was behind Specific Gravity here last month but is now better off at the weights and can reclaim the high ground having defeated that rival in his January C&D win. Last year's winner Poitin is respected but might be held by the handicapper for now.
- Udogo
- Ligeti
