Bumper winner in 2014, went close in a maiden hurdle at Galway in October past, though much less promising in similar contest at Cork when last spotted the following month. Makes chase debut here and probably best watched.
Unplaced in seven starts under rules, the two most recent of which came over fences. Was struggling some way out and beaten when unseating rider over 2m at Clonmel last month.
Just the one win from 22 starts under rules came at Ballinrobe in May 2015. Struggled at Limerick a fortnight ago over these obstacles for the second time and may want better ground.
Decent hurdler tackles these obstacles for the first time, is respected with yard in good form but may want better ground than is forecast for this.
Maiden hurdle winner at Cork in October 2015 and has recorded a pair of low-grade successes on the AW at Dundalk the same year. Struggled at that venue in two runs last month and hard to be confident for chase debut.
9L third of nine over 2m at Thurles in February. That was an improved effort on fifth outing over these obstacles and can have a say in this contest.
Useful winner on the Flat and over hurdles, finished third on chase bow over C&D last month and no surprise should he build on that promising start.
Scored a quick double over timber last May, though has struggled to live up to market expectations on all three starts this year and has bit to prove on chase debut.
A maiden after 21 starts over jumps and nothing shown in two chase outings so far to suggest that is about to change. A long way behind Pyromaniac over this C&D in February.
Has shown enough over fences to merit serious consideration for a yard in good form. Likely to be prominent in the betting once more and has fair claims on form too.
Lightly-raced maiden hurdler and he ought to find this contest easier than the Beginners Chase he debuted in at Gowran Park in February. Should improve on that effort.
Four starts over timber have been bereft of promise, off the track since October and is readily passed over for this first outing over fences.
Mare was more than 50L behind Woodland Opera when last of five at Leopardstown early last month and has a big job to be competitive based on form.
Forecasts
Woodland Opera (4/5), O Ceallaigh (11/2), Pyromaniac (7/1), Delegate (7/1), Spider Web (12/1), Black Zambezi (16/1), Fitzhenry (16/1), Definite Earl (50/1), Dangerous Games (66/1), Hatch Hall (66/1), The Drunken Dr (66/1), Rancher Lass (100/1), Sheila's Steps (100/1)
Woodland Opera has the profile to take a contest such as this and his effort at Leopardstown last month makes him a standout candidate to just that while O Ceallaigh is another that merits consideration after a decent showing at Thurles last time out. Delegate represents the Elliott team, though he may ultimately do better when there's less give in the ground. PYROMANIAC made a solid start to his chasing career over this C&D in February and should improve for the experience, giving him every chance of success now. Fitzhenry is also expected to improve dropping in trip after a decent effort at Gowran Park on his first chase start.
- Pyromaniac
- Woodland Opera
- Fitzhenry
