Probably better at this trip than others, but has been tried from two miles to three lately in an effort to refind his form. Looks well treated on his form of last winter, all of which was around this trip, but some lifeless efforts this spring and can only be watched, with yard struggling for winners.
Good effort at Newton Abbot last August and wins tend to come on sharp left handed tracks (1-1 here) but it's a tale of woe as of late, beaten miles on his last three starts. From this yard, they can pop up at any time and has conditions to suit, so simply can't be ruled out despite the poor shows.
Yard's superb run has come to an end this week, and although this one has ideal conditions today he still looks a few pounds too high in the handicap. Did, however, come good last April with back-to-back wins so not totally discounted, but more likely winners all the same.
Bit too keen for his own good on chasing debut at Ludlow, and paid for that later on (eventually pulled up) but it wasn't a run without promise, and going left-handed may well help. Addition of cheekpieces another positive and he's one of the more interesting ones.
Wins in his turn and that came around at Chepstow last time when finding a little event, although that was on soft ground. Quicker conditions and an extra half mile today ask a different question, as does his new higher mark. Bit more to do now if he's to follow up.
Front runner who was successful over this C&D last May, but couldn't repeat the feat in two latter starts. Not been seen since last June when pulling up here and after an absence, is probably best watched today despite looking likely to be handed an easy lead.
Found some form last autumn when winning back-to-back handicaps at Ffos Las and Wincanton before being well beaten on soft ground at Hereford in December, Not seen since, presumably waiting for the better ground, but normally needs a run to put him straight. Best watched today.
Wins every now and then but probably better in lower grade than today's. May well have found the trip too far on his last two starts but even allowing for that, hasn't looked liek a winner in waiting. Looks to have too much on his plate here.
Forecasts
Ballycoe (13/8), Strongly Suggested (4/1), Modeligo (6/1), Dr Dunraven (7/1), In On The Act (8/1), Guanciale (12/1), Lord Landen (16/1), Cold Knight (20/1)
Those in form are probably high enough in the handicap now, so although it's probably win or nothing it might be worth giving the well-handicapped STRONGLY SUGGESTED a try. He has his conditions today and a few of these Jonjo O'Neill horses that look to have lost their way are refinding their form this week. Dr Dunraven isn't wasting any time over hurdles and showed enough on his chasing debut to suggest he can take a hand here. Cold Knight will lead them a merry dance for a long way and may be able to hang on for the bronze.
- Strongly Suggested
- Dr Dunraven
- Cold Knight
