Won from a 6lb lower mark over C&D in November 2016, and went close from this mark in a 5F Fast Track Qualifier at Newcastle next time. Possibly didn't get the run of the race on his latest start at Lingfield, but the suspicion is that others will prove better handicapped today.

50% strike rate on synthetics (6 from 12), and a dual winner at this track. Promises to be far better suited by this trip than the 5F he raced over last time when a keeping on third to Doc Sportello (Justice Good second) in a Newcastle Fast Track Qualifier.

Lingfield regular, having raced at that track on all four starts in 2017. Now 7lb higher than when successful over this trip in January, but has been a smart buy (58,000 gns from Robert Cowell in October 2016) for this trainer. Place prospects.

Contested both the Stewards Cup and the Great St Wilfrid during the summer of 2016, and built upon a late February comeback when winning a similar Wolverhampton handicap by ¾L from Upavon in mid March. 3lb higher but respected with an AW record of 5 from 29.

Beaten narrowly by two necks when rounding off his 2016 domestic campaign at Doncaster in October 2016. Has since visited Dubai, and been out of his depth in two Meydan turf handicaps. Strong 50% strike rate on the AW, and when linking up with this jockey, and a runner up here over 7F last April looks the type to go close.

A six time career winner, but never over further than 5½F, and could only finish sixth to today's rival Go Far at Wolverhampton last month, and has work to do to reverse placings on 4lb better terms.

Returns to the track following a six month break, having wrapped up her 2016 turf campaign in fair order at the likes of Pontefract and Newmarket. Her last two AW starts were winning ones, both over 6F at Lingfield and here at Kempton in March 2016, but they came from much lower marks and with the benefit of a previous run.

AW debutant from a low draw, who regularly mixed it in big field turf sprint handicaps during 2016, including in the Portland at Doncaster. Successful in a 6F Class 2 handicap on the July course at Newmarket in July, and races from just a 1lb higher mark today, so worth a check for market support.

Former Charles Hills inmate, but only sixth behind Justice Good over C&D in November 2016, but was a narrow winner on his next start over further (7F) at Chelmsford in January. Absent since, and up 4lb, but worth watching closely any horses that are previous winners for this stable.

Adores this track, and his overall 33% strike rate on the AW (5 from 15) looks even better when considering his Kempton only runs (66%; 4 from 6). Already a dual C&D winner in 2017, but his handicap mark has risen by 12lb for those two races combined, so needs to produce a clear career best (which he might be capable of) to go in again.

Course record reads 2,3,1 with that success (5F) coming from a 7lb lower mark in late November 2016. That race has worked out very well, with the likes of Free Zone, Dynamo Walt, Just us Two and Archie Stevens in behind. Generally in good form since, and has won over this trip twice in the past (2015).

Missed the entire calendar year in 2016, and despite being eased noticeably in the weights hasn't appeared the force of old in either of his first two career starts on the AW since his return in 2017. Questions to answer.

Forecasts

Justice Good (5/1), Judicial (11/2), Hakam (6/1), Dutch Golden Age (6/1), Solar Flair (7/1), Memories Galore (8/1), Mont Kiara (9/1), Dougan (14/1), Kasbah (16/1), Stellarta (25/1), Go Far (25/1), Professor (33/1)

Verdict

Without doubt the trickiest race on the card to solve at Kempton this afternoon. Dutch Golden Age adores this track, and despite requiring a career best effort, he's likely to be thereabouts without reflecting any real value at his likely odds. Memories Galore is another who can be expected to figure in the finish, with his November 5F course success having worked out well, and could prove suited by being stepped up in trip to 6F. Mount Kiara is an interesting AW debutant from the North, but a speculative dart is thrown in the direction of SOLAR FLAIR in a wide open race. He goes well for Jim Crowley, and ran well at this track over further (7F) last April, so can be expected to be strong at the finish on his return from the Dubai winter sunshine.
  1. Solar Flair
  2. Memories Galore
  3. Mont Kiara
