Out of form on the AW recently and very little to write home about since his win at Catterick. Needs to prove that wasn't a fluke now and has a break to overcome.
C&D winner off a 1lb higher mark in 2015 and looks better suited to turf than an AW surface. Inconsistent but has to be considered on his best form.
Multiple winner in France and a fascinating runner for a yard who rarely leave the jumps arena. Looks well-handicapped back in this sphere after a spell over hurdles and jockey is well worth her 3lb claim in this line up. Should go well.
Moderate efforts in 11 starts to date and hasn't been pulling up any trees in several attempts on the AW recently, tailed off last time. Hard to fancy.
Not won on the Flat since 2013 but return to turf should help and effort last time was respectable at Newcastle over a similar trip. Has one of the more talented apprentices on board and holds each-way claims.
Still a maiden and starts like for a new yard now. Has a horror draw to contend with and may need this after an absence so hard to recommend.
Inconsistent sort who has done all his winning over 7f. Return to turf should suit but hard to argue he's particularly well-handicapped.
Stays this far and won an amateur contest at Chelmsford in February but bad draw to contend with and not been in the same form under this jockey in two starts since. Can ruin his chance from the stalls and looks a risky betting proposition.
Winner of a Lingfield nursery for Luca Cumani but has proved costly to follow since over a variety of trips. Unplaced on all recent efforts and needs the return to turf to reignite the fire.
Still a maiden after 11 starts and has only come close to shedding that tag on the AW or fast ground so hard to fancy here after a disappointing run at Dundalk in February.
Very consistent and progressive gelding who has been hiked up the weights for his recent Chelmsford win. Just failed in a follow up bid at Kempton last time but there could be more to come back on turf, particularly if the ground comes up soft. Trainer has a 20.59% strike rate at this course.
Threatened to get off the mark at Southwell in December but disappointing in follow up efforts. Only soft ground run last campaign had some promise so not dismissed out of hand for a jockey worth his 5lb claim.
Hit hard by the handicapper after winning an apprentice race and stuggling from revised mark ever since. Likely to need more relief from the handicapper.
Won a Class 4 event at Haydock over this trip but has struggled since and switch of yard has done little for his form. Jockey been in fine form over the winter but he will have to be at his very best if he's to get this gelding competitive.
First start for new yard but looks poorly handicapped. 3lb claim will help matters but he struggled over C&D when last seen and looks set to struggle yet again.
All his best efforts have come on faster ground and yet to win when fresh so looks opposable on return.
Best efforts tend to come on the AW around Wolverhampton but no doubt he's well handicapped and he has bits of form on soft ground. Wide draw makes things tough though.
Ran two good races from the front for this yard before being stepped up in trip. Has come down the weights and duly scored last time on the AW at Southwell. May carry on improving for this yard now he's found his stride and he gets the services of a very promising apprentice. Could go well on turf debut.
Remains a maiden after five starts and hasn't shown enough to suggest this mark is generous in any way. Wide draw and others preferred.
In excellent form when last seen and very interesting player off joint bottom weight with his jockey also able to take off 7lb. Well handicapped on old form who may want conditions faster in an ideal world but certainly a player if ready to go after an absence.
Forecasts
Match My Fire (5/1), Volpone Jelois (11/2), Boychick (13/2), Take Two (9/1), Boycie (10/1), Deeley's Double (10/1), Glorious Asset (10/1), Bahamian C (10/1), Al Khafji (14/1), Hard To Handel (16/1), Miningrocks (25/1), We'll Shake Hands (25/1), Moojaned (25/1), Hernando Torres (33/1), Rivers Of Asia (33/1), First Wheat (33/1), Ice Galley (40/1), Fisherman's Blues (40/1), Gatillo (50/1), Clayton Hall (66/1)
BOYCHICK has looked highly progressive this year and he was unlucky not to win at Kempton last time; there could be even more to come back on turf. Bahamian C is an interesting player off a feather weight and it will be interesting to see if his 7lb claiming jockey can get a tune out of him on just his fourth ride. Paul Nicholls has a rare runner in this sphere and his daughter Megan has made a promising start to her career as a jockey, she should get a good a spin round from Volpone Jelois. Glorious Asset completes the shortlist; his trainer usually finds the key to these types and this gelding can go from strength-to-strength now he has that win on the board.
- Boychick
- Bahamian C
- Volpone Jelois
