11/10
Odds-on and an easy winner at Market Rasen in maiden company (2m½f, soft) in February but then turned over at 1/10 at Exeter back in a similar contest to this last time, her jumping letting her down at the business end. Still has more ability than most here and will be no easy beat.

Verona Opera30
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-9| J: A E Lynch| T: S R B Crawford| OR:  112
5/1
Brought to an end a losing sequence of 15 runs since taking a Catterick bumper when scoring at Ayr last time (2m, heavy) by 9L. Carries a penalty as a result and this forecast better ground may help with that, so very much respected.

Had just the two runs since joining current yard and not easy to assess, other than she showed some improvement in the most recent of those. Education continues here and likely that she will be showing more when handicapping.
Consistent in that she has been sent off in double or triple figure prices in all 18 starts to date and apart from a 4L third on the Flat at Catterick (1m6f) she has never threatened. It was the same back at that venue over hurdles last time and she cannot be recommended.

50/1
Well beaten in both starts so far, although did step up on her Catterick debut to some extent at Market Rasen. Half-sister to dual winner Milly Baloo and likely that there is some ability there and if her sire has a significant influence then she may now do better on a sound surface.

Has run with some credit in two bumpers so far and makes her hurdles debut today. Dam won a seller over hurdles and grandam was a 2m4f hurdle/3m chase winner and full-sister to bumper/2m2f hurdle winner Colonel Yeager, so would be interesting if supported.

River Icon28
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: Dale Irving(5)| T: I Jardine
9/1
Put in a couple of decents efforts to make the frame in successive bumpers and raced too keenly to be effective on her hurdles debut at Musselburgh last time. If she settles better se could make an impact, although likely to do better over a bit further.

Hint Of Grey12
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-9| J: Conor Shoemark| T: D E Cantillon| OR:  116
13/8
Has won a couple on the Flat and came good over hurdles in a Fakenham maiden last time out, when she hung on after a mistake at the last (2m, good). With her allowance, this looks like a good opportunity to follow-up if she can take a third race in around three weeks.

Forecasts

Little Miss Poet (11/10), Hint Of Grey (13/8), Verona Opera (5/1), River Icon (9/1), Gogo Baloo (50/1), Raennavich (50/1), Bat Sheva (66/1), Come On Lulu (200/1)

Verdict

Little Miss Poet is travelling a long way here and connections will be keen to make that count, but she has already shown that she is vulnerable. She may well win this, but her odds probably won't be too attractive and HINT OF GREY is suggested in opposition. Don Cantillon's filly may be able to make good use of the stone she receives from what looks to be here chief rival, although there is also a slight concern that this is her third race in a short period. If both misfire then Gogo Baloo could benefit, while a market check is advised regarding Raennavich.
  1. Hint Of Grey
  2. Little Miss Poet
  3. Gogo Baloo
