Was winning for the sixth time over this C&D when making all last time out, beating Picansort by 1L. Had the run of the race that day and more to do off a 4lb higher mark but fully respected in current mood all the same.
Has won four times over this C&D, most recently off a 10lb higher mark 13 months ago. Shaped well enough on his reappearance behind Verne Castle here last month and entitled to strip fitter today. No surprise to see him go well.
C&D winner as a juvenile and also scored at Bath last summer on quick ground before ending the campaign by finishing just over 1L behind Picansort again over this C&D. Better off at the weights with that rival now, so respected if market speaks in her favour.
Had gone 17 starts without a win for this yard but has struck twice recently over 6f at Chelmsford, most recently in good style. Clearly in the form of his life but has a 5lb higher mark to contend with as he belatedly drops down to 5f for the first time.
Gained a ninth career success, and a fourth win over this C&D on New Year's Eve. Has remained competitive since off a revised mark, most recently at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford, and he is again capable of making his presence felt.
A standing dish around here with seven C&D wins, most recently from a 3lb lower mark in December. Came from off the pace to chase home Mossgo (now 4lb better off with that rival) last time and he is unlikely to be far away.
Won from a 6lb higher mark on the turf last season but has registered a mixed bag of results back on the AW this winter. Decent effort on the fibresand at Southwell last time but yet to make his mark on this course.
Made a winning start over this C&D 13 months ago but no real improvement when just reaching the frame in subsequent handicaps. Something to find on a few of these as she makes a seasonal bow.
Forecasts
Menelik (3/1), Cherry Kool (4/1), Taajub (13/2), Mossgo (7/1), Temple Road (7/1), Picansort (7/1), Equijade (17/2), Powerful Wind (14/1)
C&D specialist Picansort looked on good terms with himself when chasing home Mossgo here earlier this month and has every chance of reversing the form on 4lb better terms but trainer Peter Crate saddles another interesting runner in the shape of TAAJUB and he may offer better value from a falling mark, having ran better than the bare form suggests from a poor draw last time. Cherry Cool would also be a threat to all if fully tuned up for her reappearance whilst it will be interesting to see how the in-form Menelik copes with this drop in trip.
- Taajub
- Picansort
- Menelik
