Doesn't look the easiest of rides but gets on well with today's rider and arrives here in good form; just 4lb higher than for his recent Chelmsford success but needs to put in a stronger shift than the one he posted last time out.

Only one win from 21 starts on the AW, but does at least handle the Tapeta surface at Wolverhampton. However, he lacks consistency and looks opposable first time out after a long break.

The first-time cheekpieces and the drop in trip worked wonders for him when he bolted home in a similar contest at Newcastle last time out. Needs to prove that he can go on from there; but has just a 4lb higher mark to contend with and is reunited with an in-form 7lb claimer. One for the shortlist.

Wore a visor instead of the intended hood last time out, which may have been a contributing factor to a modest display. He had previously made the most of a lenient mark to score over C&D in January, and is better judged on that performance. Given that he has won off a mark as high as 90 on Turf, he is still very well handicapped on the pick of his old form. Another to consider.

Only 1 win from 17 previous starts and has been out of from for a little while now. Hard to fancy again here.

Showed ability when with Richard Hannon, and now with a yard that is adept at getting to the bottom of horses that have lost their way a little. Seems to be enjoying his new routines and may have turned the corner. Still needs to step things up another notch from his recent efforts at Kempton, but has sound place claims in a moderate race like this.

Has scope for improvement but needs to start delivering after a handful of poor efforts. First-time cheekpieces may help but too much guesswork involved to suggest they will inspire a transformation.

A bit of a character who has his own mind about how to do things. Posted arguably his best effort for a while in finishing third behind Symbolic Star at Newcastle earlier this month. 4lb better off today but still has a little bit to find. The rider's claim can be a big help if he consents to give his all this time around. One to keep tabs on in the betting.

Finished just behind Dr Red Eye over C&D last month, so is respected on that effort. However, she lacks scope and, from 1lb out of the weights, she appears to face an uphill task to just reverse that form alone.

Forecasts

Symbolic Star (11/4), Prince of Time (4/1), Mr Potter (9/2), Major Muscari (6/1), Rising Sunshine (15/2), Kingstreet Lady (9/1), Harbour Patrol (9/1), Dr Red Eye (12/1), Grey Destiny (14/1), Bella's Boy (33/1), Any Joy (40/1)

Verdict

The pieces are falling into place for SYMBOLIC STAR, who improved out of all recognition in the first-time headgear last time out and, with his in-form rider significantly easing the burden at the weights, will be hard to stop if he is in the same frame of mind this time around. Rising Sunshine represents a yard which traditionally does well with this type of horse, and is another to bear in mind. Whereas support for the well-handicapped Dr Red Eye would have solid foundations; even though he can be a quirky character. Major Muscari goes well at this course and is forwarded as the best of the rest.
  1. Symbolic Star
  2. Dr Red Eye
  3. Rising Sunshine
