6lb higher than his sole career win in a novices' handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot almost a year ago. Weighted up to the hilt since then and, like several of his runs since, a place looks the best this veteran can hope for.
Dropped 3lb since his last run, in which there was encouragement until late on. Outpaced at the business end that day and now connections step him up a bit further, which looks a potential positive.
Well beaten in all starts over hurdles and handicapper appeared to have overestimated his abilities when he finished a 33L 11th of 17 on his handicap debut at Taunton last time. Step up in trip not certain to be a positive. Best watched.
Beaten a street in all three hurdles runs and has increased in SP each time, going off at 125/1 last time. Handicap debut is from a very workable mark for his trainer, while this step up in trip looks a potential plus, so a market check is advised.
Handicapper has dropped him 6lb after he was 47L in arrears on his debut in this sphere over 2m4f here last time. Nonetheless, very hard to fancy him at present.
0-10 thus far but put up a career best on heavy ground at Lingfield (2m3½f) last time, when beaten just 3L into third. Races from the same mark today and little racing weight to shoulder too, so could be a player.
Pulled up in five of his last eight starts over hurdles and well beaten in the other three, sliding 37lb in the handicap as a result. 2lb out of the handicap today and must be taken on.
Has previously run in defeat on heavy ground, though all wins on a more sound surface. Three years since this old stager's last success and highly unlikely that the drought will end today.

Forecasts
African Tiger (5/2), Anythingmayhappen (3/1), I'llhavealook (7/2), Fidelity (5/1), Kingston Mimosa (5/1), Laoch Beag (14/1), Kilrush (14/1), Brother Norphin (16/1), Warsaw Pact (33/1)
Very poor end to the afternoon in such races the top rated horses can be relied upon more to produce some consistency, so the suggestion is KINGSTON MIMOSA, with I'llhavelook, Fidelity and Anythingmayhappen more likely than plenty of others to be involved at the business end. It wouldn't take much in the way of market support to have us interested in African Tiger.
