Dam was an unraced half-sister to dual Group One runner-up Starscope and Listed winner Solar Magic (1m), out of a winning half-sister to 1m and 1m2f Group One winner Medicean. First racecourse appearance and one to keep an eye on in the market.
Showed a bit of promise until weaking over a furlong out on debut and kept to this same trip for now. Can build on that today.
Improved for her debut when a 2L runner-up in a 7f Newcastle maiden last time. This step up to 1m looks likely to be a positive and she should be in the shake-up.
200,000 GNS yearling and half-sister to dual AW winners Birdman (6f-1m), Roman Seal (6f), Desert Icon (6f) and turf scorers Predominance and Golden Glimmer. Dam 5f winner and yard in decent form, though interesting that she starts over this far. Watching brief advised.
No discernible improvement from first run to second and now tries a third trip in as many starts. Pedigree suggests that she has a bit to prove in that regard too and likely to see more from her in handicaps.
A couple of fairly quiet runs over this trip in maidens so far and more of the same anticipated here as she works towards a handicap mark that should prove more fruitful.
Improved for her first run when stepped up to the extended 1m here last time. Can continue her education here, though more likely to see her to best effect when handicapping and probably over a bit further.
A couple of decent efforts so far in maidens, the first being here and proving that she handles the surface and track well enough. Step up in trip looks a positive move, though poor draw to overcome and another who looks more likely to do better in handicaps.
Handicapper has seen enough to rate her 68 at present, so the fact that she remains in a maiden suggests that connections think she needs another drop before being competitive in handicaps. Hard to fancy on the evidence we have in the form book.
€20,000 foal out of a 1m1f winning dam who is related to the Listed-placed 7f 2yo winner Rubuna, a half-sister to 1m2f Listed winner Riyalma and out of a 1m4f Listed winner. Yard 1-2 in the past fortnight and her chance is respected on debut.
Half-sister to Italian 7½f Listed winners Rosa Eglanteria (also placed in the Italian Oaks) and Ransom Shift, and to Italian Listed-placed 1m-1m3f winner Fantastic Shift. Dam Italian 7f-1m winner (including Listed). Yard has 16% strike rate in this sphere and market check advised.
Forecasts
Shift Cross (11/4), Angel Of Rome (6/1), Melodine (6/1), Never Folding (8/1), Hidden Charms (9/1), Dusky Maid (9/1), Kassandra (10/1), Patching (14/1), Miss M (16/1), Almerita Moon (18/1), Rinaria (33/1)
The Marco Botti-trained pair Almerita Moon and Shift Cross are both worth keeping an eye on in the market, with the latter appearing to be the first string given jockey bookings, while Hidden Charms could also go well. However, the suggestion is to go with the experience of DUSKY MAID, whose fitness might just be sufficient to get her nose in front.
- Dusky Maid
- Shift Cross
- Hidden Charms
