In good form this winter, having won three of his last four starts and has now risen a total of 15lb as a result. Showed no signs that he was about to stop improving when scoring over C&D last time and from a good draw he is going to be tough to beat before a rise in class beckons.
Now 7lb higher than when winning over C&D in January, though went close from 1lb lower than today on his next start. Not disgraced when completing in third in a void Chelmsford race last time and should again give a good account.
Looks like another compensation mission for this gelding who was a beaten favourite for a fourth time when going down by ¾L at Newcastle over 5f last time. Remains on the same mark and has to have claims, but has disappointed several times and could again be worth taking on.
6lb higher than when scoring on turf (6f. soft) at Chepstow in September, but well beaten over 5f in two subsequent starts from similar mark to today's. Gelded since last run and has been given a break. Good draw but probably best watched unless market speaks in his favour.
Well beaten on debut in August and not seen again until earlier this month, when showing improvement to score in a C&D maiden. Mark looks workable for this handicap debut and with scope for improvement he could go close.
Comes here chasing a hat-trick after winning a maiden auction and then a handicap, both at Newcastle, with the latter being over today's trip. A 5lb rise does not look onerous and she should again go very well.
Sole success was in a novices' event at Ripon last year and went on to put up a couple more respectable efforts in that sphere. Handicapping has proved more tricky thus far, but this latest 2lb drop puts him in a position where the next win may not be far away.
Leicester maiden winner on fast ground in July and made a pleasing handicap debut at Brighton next time from today's mark. Soft ground perhaps the cause of her hefty defeat when last seen but comes here fresh and can begin to build from here.
Forecasts
Cappananty Con (7/4), Arzaak (4/1), Derek Duval (9/2), Intense Romance (13/2), Lord Cooper (15/2), Compton Lane (18/1), Who Told Jo Jo (22/1), Bobby Vee (28/1)
Arzaak may prove good enough to win this but he has had a number of chances and backing him carries a fair degree of risk, so the suggestion is to take him on with INTENSE ROMANCE, who is going the right way. Derek Duval and Lord Cooper are others likely to make a significant impression.
- Intense Romance
- Lord Cooper
- Derek Duval
