Perfectly adept at acting on this surface and has won six times around here. Last win here came on his penultimate start in a claimer but was well beaten back in a handicap last time out and this mark gives him a tough task.
Ran well here last time out coming back off a break and should run well again as he was only beaten by a resurgent one on that occasion. Consistent on this surface and hard to ignore off the same mark again.
Came back from a long break last time out and showed very little. Can be slow away and that often puts him on the back foot which is far from ideal on this surface.
Yet to run on this surface and comes back from a break. Yet to win off a mark this high and probably best watched against some Fibresand specialists.
C&D winner who was well below form last time out when running on Tapeta at Newcastle. Often slow away and runs off a stiff looking mark on his return to Fibresand.
Course regular who is an eight-time winner at the course although only once over C&D. Has run well of late on this surface but can be a difficult ride.
Has had two efforts on Fibresand (both unplaced) and finished last of five on his last start here. Has work to do with The Lock Master based on that run and form so far here leaves him with question to answer.
Took immediately to the surface when winning here last time out over a mile. The fact that he's by Speightstown means it's no surprise he acts around here but he is up 4f in trip and back in a handicap, that just tempers enthusiasm.
Forecasts
Busy Street (1/1), Muqarred (9/4), The Lock Master (8/1), Major Rowan (12/1), Tatting (14/1), Torremar (20/1), Falcon's Fire (50/1), Alshan Fajer (66/1)
The concern about the increased trip is enough to temper enthusiasm for Muqarred although his ability to act on the surface will be a plus. The Lock Master is no stranger to Southwell and with his yard in good form he should again go well, although he doesn’t look an easy ride on some occasions. The most solid option would appear to be BUSY STREET. He ran well here last time out against a horse on the up again and off the same mark, may be able to go one better.
- Busy Street
- Muqarred
- The Lock Master
